Isn't it supposed to be horrible?

And by horrible, does that mean you found it incomprehensible?

I agree with 2001. It's one of those movies that I really enjoy and I watch it every couple of years expecting to finally "get it", but that never really happens.

I don't agree with the explanation that Patrick Bateman actually committed the murders in American Psycho just because that's how it was in the book. Movies aren't always meant to mirror the book exactly (see Kubrick, Stanley) so the director may have wanted the movie to imply that Bateman didn't do it and it was all a fantasy because he hates his mundane life and the fact that he was never noticed. I prefer to interpret the movie that way, especially since I've never read the book.

I think that (both movie and the book) are meant to be more open ended. Leave it up to the audience to
[Show spoiler]decide if it was all real or just in his head. But others disagree and argue strongly for one side or the other. The book does make it seem more likely to have all been real though--it's been a decade or more since I've read it so I don't recall the ending exactly.

Machete is another of the "Grindhouse" throwbacks by Rodriguez. It's suppose to be campy and have bad edit cuts. I thought it smoked.

I always thought the end was a pay-off to all of the times in the movie that the characters could not keep track of each other's names (since their lifestyles discouraged individuality in the first place "I want to FIT IN!"). Even Patrick's lawyer did not know who he was while they were talking face to face.

I think Patrick was definitely doing those things in the movie.

Yea, I agree also. That was my take on it too.

About that
[Show spoiler]if it's really all a dream (and I tend to believe that) then it suggests that parts of it, or the entire movie were simply made up by an insane man who for one reason or another, can't be with his own children.
It's a very enjoyable action flick without that explanation, and gives it a whole layer of depth with it. Kind of like 12 Monkeys.

I watched Mulholland Drive for the first time a couple of nights ago and was mesmerised. I thought the first two hours was bizarre but fairly easy to follow - and then the last half hour had me totally perplexed. My sister read me an interpretation online shortly after, although I wish I'd perhaps re-watched it first, trying to draw my own conclusions.

Excellent film, by the way.

Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon.

Oh wait. The subtitles were off. Nevermind, I'm good.
