Jason X has a bit of a Syfy channel movie feel to it. It isn't an awful movie and I give it points for trying something new but this one just doesn't work for me and might be just for fans of the series. The supporting characters are ok and Jason is cool as always but I will stick to the movies with the classic Crystal Lake setting.

Rocktober Blood (1984)
Low budget, cliche filled, and poorly acted describe this to a T.

[Show spoiler]Hear such classic lines as, “I want your hot steaming pūssy blood all over my face.” And see a girl die by having a hot clothes iron pressed against her neck.

Even with some ridiculousness, this Heavy Metal themed slasher is entertaining. This was my second time watching it.

The Curse of the Werewolf (1961)


Honestly I find the first hour of this film to be a complete waste of time. By the time we actually get to our werewolf character I've pretty much checked out entirely. Combine that with the fact that you barely even see the werewolf and you get a movie that I don't like at all.

Halloween H20: 20 Years Later: 1/2

The movie that brought Jamie Lee Curtis back into the role of Laurie Strode is a pretty decent sequel in the Halloween franchise. I like that they changed the setting for this movie from Haddonfield to California. The movie does take a little while to get going after the beginning, but when that final chase starts, it's a fun experience.

And this, folks, is where the wheels come off. I would be lying if I didn't say that the web-series storyline wasn't interesting, but it just isn't done well. The characters are annoying and unlikable. Not only that, but we all the know how just randomly

and then don't get me started on a kung-fu Busta Rhymes. Some of the kills are alright, but the movie is just ridiculous.

Night of the Living Dead (1968) *50th Anniversary*
With my hectic work schedule last week, I didn't get the chance to check out the Fathom screenings but did managed to grab the Criterion Blu-Ray. The restoration was really well done plus the sound was impressive as well. After 50 years, it still manages to remain one of the greats.


Dawn of the Dead (1978) *40th Anniversary*
And after 40 years, Dawn also still manages to be just as great as Night. Just the difference is a much larger scale, tone difference and Romero's witty satire on consumerism.
Still waiting for the 3D version over here, BTW.

I actually haven't watched this movie since my high school film studies class and really great disc by Criterion as always. There's a reason this one of the top horror movies. Decided to watch the 1990 one as well. Actually liked how Barbara was much different character here. In the original she seemed to take a back seat to Ben.

Just got back from seeing this finally... very good direct sequel to the original. Jamie Lee Curtis was terrific as well as much of the moody direction and sense of dread that this film starts out with. Not sure where I rank this one-- I'll have to see it again to decide but it's certainly in the top 4 of the series at the very least.

Decided to watch the 1990 one as well. Actually liked how Barbara was much different character here. In the original she seemed to take a back seat to Ben.

The 1990 version was essentially a rehash of the original film, regardless of how different the characters might've been. BTW, NOTLD is an ensamble film. Nobody took a back seat to anyone else. They all served a purpose to the story.

As for Zombie, the 4K restoration screening will be showing down here Halloween night.

Horror of Dracula (1958) The great Peter Cushing gives a excellent performance as Dr. Van Helsing, while Christopher Lee dons the cloak for the first of many times to come. While Lee’s Dracula still manages to capture some of suave of Lugosi, his take is much more imposing and sinister. One of my favorite things about this film is the score. Its absolutely perfect.

Dark Night of the Scarecrow (1981) Last time I ever watch this was sometime during the mid 90’s and all I could remember was the corn silo scene, so this pretty much felt like a first time watch. Even though its tame it’s still a solid made-for-tv horror film that manages to be creepy and achieve a pretty great atmosphere. I love the look of the scarecrow, but we never see much of the scarecrow in ‘action’. It mostly all supernatural, but the last scene is pretty great and had me smiling.
