Ah right, thanks. I've just bought the Thor and Captain America teaser posters (maxi) and frames so we'll see what they're like

I was wanting to get some posters in some frames and do it right but the cost is like $400 if you want a light box and getting a original poster. So I may go the economic way. Unfortunately for me in my youth I lamenated some original "Dune Posters." I did that to a lot of my posters I regret it so much now.......

They're posters with the dimensions 61 x 91.5cm.
Relatively cheap too.

The ROTJ poster is single sided, I believe. It has been in the frame so long, I can't even remember for sure, but I think it would stick out in my mind if it were double sided.

As for my thoughts of being a re-print, I just figured since it was from the fan club, it wouldn't be considered an original, but, obviously, I'm not an expert.
They made single-sided originals of the Special Edition re-release films so my guess is if it came from the fan club, its probably one of the single-sided originals. In the case of these posters, of course most collectors prefer double-sided, but single-sided originals for them are also hard to come by as well.

Remember just because a poster is double-sided, doesn't mean you have to use a light box frame. All of my double-sided originals I have up aren't with light boxes, but just professionally framed, with UV glass (not that we really need UV protection in Seattle..LOL) but also with acid-free backings.

Default Happy New Year's Everyone

Well it's 12:00am on New Year's Day here on the west coast, hope everyone is out having fun and is safe. Sounds like a war zone outside as I type this, good lord, fireworks are such a waste of money. Lots of good posters coming out in 2012 and some really good films too, first up for me will be "Coriolanus" starring and directed by Ralph Fiennes.

May have stumbled upon an original Jurassic Park poster and an Original Forest Gump poster for $20 .....Going to check it out tomorrow! Even if it they are in Fair condition, is it worth the pickup? Also, how can I tell that they are authentic and not a reprint?

Some of my latest poster buys:

Mondo:
Fortress of Solitude
Gremlins (red variant)
Gremlins 2
Jurassic Park regular

3 Barrels Limited:
Jaws regular

All will be kept in original tubes until I have enough money for professional frames. What color mattes will look good with these assuming I get a black frame from Michaels?

I was thinking about blue for the Fortress of Solitude, what about the others? Blue for Jaws as well?

Older Mondo's I have that will need frames and mattes as well, would love to hear suggestions for these:
Alien (glow in the dark, Ken Taylor) - maybe a green matte?
Halloween (Methane Studios - Alamo) - orange perhaps? (halloween color?)
A Nightmare on Elm Street (Methane Studios - Alamo) - red?
The Shining red variant (Billy Perkins - Alamo) - red?
Texas Chainsaw Massacre (Jeff Proctor) - red?
2001: A Space Odyssey (Tim Doyle) - silver (moon color?)

First check to see if they are double-sided, as both should, but also single-sided ones exist. Check for rips, stains, etc. Check the lettering on them as well, which should be clear any not fuzzy.

The only 4 movie posters I own are Scream 1-4. I've had them all countless times, but they got destroyed.

About the time Scream 4 was announced I started hunting on eBay for Scream posters. I have always wanted a cast poster of the 1996 film. I had some ugly-very, very ugly reprints that were so dark and distorted. I threw them out. Anyways, so I look one day and see this original video release poster. The price started at 15 and kept on climbing. All the way to 80 dollars. I won. Was so happy. It's flawless. No tears, warps, wrinkles, creases, anything. I have it framed in a standard Wal-Mart frame right now, but I'm going to take it down soon. It is my prized possession.

Bought the other 2 Scream ones from eBay, just video release ones. Not in as good quality as 1.

Scream 4 is a cast poster folded. Didn't like that it was folded, but it's the only one out there.

I also have huge subway posters for a few TV series. Mainly 3 seasons of Weeds and The Walking Dead. I love them. They are like a big vinyl sticker.

I really, really, used to be into collecting. When I got older and moved I just stopped caring. A lot of them got tore and thrown away.

When it comes to matte board, make sure it is acid-free, and you really can't go wrong with black, or for some don't even go with a matte, it costs more to have them matte them anyways. Looks like you have a good Mondo collection going, Halloween is actually a nice one to have as the rumor was Alamo didn't get permission to hold the one-night screening or to do a print for it, but the print had been made and word came down from the rights holder about it after the prints had shipped to those who had bought one. I believe only 150 were made, and its a pretty sought after piece.
