It isn't something you would normally put in a contract (at least not in any publication I know). Usually it's just an understanding, a quid pro quo if you will - the studio provides review copies, but can set certain conditions on the publication of the reviews. If someone violates those conditions, then the studio can simply choose to withhold any further cooperation.

And the reason it's usually not contractual (again, AFAIK) is because this usually just represents free advertising for the studios. There's no money involved, unlike actual PAID advertising.

More often than not, the studios feel they benefit from the free publicity, even with less-than-glowing reviews.
You know what I mean, I couldn't find the right words. (I just meant some kind of conditions or rules, in whatever kind of form)
But you make a good complement onto my post, as what you say now doesn't apply when you get the disc too early at a store, because there's 0,0 % communication/cooperation with the distributor, so in such a case there are no restrictions.

sorry guys, i did mean "UPCONVERT" I did watch a few seconds of it here and there in 3D but it wasn't as great as it was in theatres. But it still had the 3D feel to it. From the few seconds that i did watch, everything was being converted to 3D, so there were no blurry spots. Like i said, early next week i'll watch it again and tell you what i think of the 2D to 3D conversion. If you have any questions, just PM me.

i know a few reviews have been delayed because of the new DRM. The guy who owns DVD beaver has had it for over a week now and can't capture any screenshots for his reviews because of the DRM. I really want screenshots but we might not even have them when the blu is actually released because of the DRM (at least for a while)

It will be out in a few days. Screen shots or not - you will have it in your hot little hands shortly. Lol.

Besides, you really think it's going to look bad? Screen shots captured from the movie itself won't show how it looks on YOUR setup. It might vary.

There are photos of the movie in the thread. Go check those out.

Default Target Ad

You think Amazon will react to the $19.99 price ads? I do. We'll see tomorrow what the adjustment is (if any) will be...right now it's cheaper to buy at Target w/tax.

Please keep Target/Price/Ad related questions in that thread - https://forum.blu-ray.com/movie-tv-d...ml#post3165787

This happened with Toy Story and the forum ended up with 10 threads all with the same thing going on because it was a free for all.

Just a friendly FYI

I agree. However, it's a simple question and I'm not really one to view multiple threads on one subject. so, I'll just keep it to myself...I guess there should be a 3D thread too.

Hopefully the makers of the program with the red fox in its logo will offer a solution soon. (and yes, it shouldn't be necesarry, but when something is nailed shut, you need a crowbar )

Well, if you look at the thread I linked you to - your answer is in there so you don't really even have to lift a finger.

Your simple question will result in the thread turning into a pricing thread, target, amazon, best place to buy thread. Lol. Again, toy story was chaos on release day with all the threads.

3D talk can stay in here since this is the Avatar thread.

I understand what you're saying, I've been on here a long time...that same type of thing happend on WOZ thread too, but it's nice to be able to talk about everything in one place, no big deal - You're actually kinda splitting hairs IMO - about the 3D aspect. It's all conversation about Avatar.

So, if every bit of space is being used for video/audio quality on this release, does that mean that the Ultimate Edition will have inferior quality because some of that space is being used for menus and commentaries? It would make sense if that was the case.

1:78 is the original aspect ratio. It was cut down on the top and bottom to fit in 2:35 screens. You'll be seeing more, not less.

No, 3d hasn't even been announced yet. 3D in a home environment is a long way away from affordability and mass market appeal. And to be honest, the fad might be over by then.

Sure wish Fox had some sort of coupon for Avatar.

Ok thanks.. I thought they may include some 3D gimmick like My Bloody Valentine or Coraline.. Look forward to it nonetheless
