I thought tonight's episode was an improvement over last week.

They might complain for a week or two... but all the way to the next season? It just seems like it's way past time to give Kaley's hairstyle conversation a rest.

That has even strangely overshadowed discussion of her impending divorce, which in gossip terms seems like it would have been a much hotter topic than her still having the same hairstyle.

Exactly, he was a wannabe. Inside he's a mummas boy who needs and wants to be controlled. If none of the characters developed, it would be boring, and nothing to watch for.

Last night's episode was barely 19 minutes. The episodes are getting shorter and less funny. R.I.P.

The first 5 minutes of the show last night were hilarious!

No I would not.

I watched the Simpsons for 20 years or so and at no point did I think "What this show needs to do is move forward".

Dramas need to move forward. Comedies don't, necessarily.

And if they really want to they can move forward without changing it to be a totally cliche rom-com. It's not either/or.

But thanks for the condescension. I'm sure it makes your ego swell.

Agreed. I hate what they have done to Sheldon. The desperate boyfriend trying to win the girl back has been done so many times, it gets really old. It's become really low brow humor, and they have pretty much abandoned the nerd culture which made it so unique. I'm reminded that the guy that wrote this is the same one that wrote two and a half men. I certainly hope this gets a better finale.

They aren't getting shorter, they have always been that short. I've commented about it many times before

Here are previous posts I made about the short length of the show.

Agreed! I enjoyed this week's episode. My only nitpick so far this season is that Raj has gotten very little screen time (especially in the first episode). I recall he was thinking about breaking up with Emily in last season's finale and I'm surprised they haven't addressed that yet.

I suspect Raj is being pushed to "secondary status" because he's not dating or married to a main character. This is kind of a pity as I find him to be way funnier than Howard.

There are 7 main characters, there will be times when 1 or more of them is not focused on. I'd be fine with Raj being pushed to the side a bit in exchange for the show being a bit more geeky again.

Cartoons don't have to have growth because they are drawings... so the characters don't age unless you want them too.

Live-action shows have real people who age. It would be impossible to not have change in the characters if the show runs more than a few years.

Now, we can debate some of the choices to be sure... I'm not sure they have made positive growth to make the show funnier over time. But they couldn't keep doing the same jokes and have the same routine every year or the show would have been off the air years ago.

agree. Bart can be a 10 year old boy for 26 years but with live actors you can't do that they need to age and evolve or it looks ridiculous.

I still agree with those that think it needs to go back to its nerd/geek roots a bit. Saying this as someone who loves ST and Doctor Who and LoTR and RPGs and TCGs and comic books.

Right. You can evolve a show without completely abandoning the elements that made people love it in the first place. Sheldon was already a grown man when we met him in the pilot, who had been friends with Leonard, Howard and Raj for sometime. It's not necessarily true that he would change so much just from meeting Penny?

I'm almost 36 and I love all those things, I will probably love all those things my entire life. Penny and Amy and Bernadette have changed them all but they should still be who they were before. Too much change is not a good thing. Those saying the show is not as funny are right, taking away so much of the geek/nerd factor reduces the humor factor of the show.

Yeah and I've also noticed how the show tends to portray women as above the geek culture. It was one thing when it was just Penny, but now with Amy and Bernadette added to to mix it becomes grating. They are always making fun of them for their geeky interests and trying to change them. I am a woman and I have a ton of woman friends who love all of those nerdy things to. It would be nice if Raj at least found a woman who like those things to.
