I'm someone who paid that $89 for the DVD box set of Elm Street movies back in '99. I won't be buying again because, I, after watching them again... realize that I haven't liked an Elm Street sequel at all since about 1992. Part 4 was the last I liked at all many eons ago.

But, $44 didn't seem like the end of the world to me on this set. I'll be out on this though because of my feelings towards the sequels now.

Why the Friday the 13th talk... Just incase Paramount is listening. Not looking for any of that New Line nonsense. Looking for the Paramount movies to be released as I would buy them. Still like the series - various - to this day.
I too have the DVD box set with bonus disc. I'm fine staying with that.

As for Friday the 13th, I have a 4 pack of the first 4 movies then individual releases of the next two and that is all I care to own from that series. I don't want to upgrade to blu.

I also have Freddy Vs. Jason on DVD but plan on upgrading to Blu soon and I have the remakes from both Nightmare and Friday on Blu and DVD (Nightmare was combo pack and already had Friday but got the blu during last U&S).

Right you are--my bad...

Considering that I got my "Nightmare" Blu-Ray Mexican import set a few months ago, I'll be passing on this. I bought that set because the bonus disc is in NTSC format, and plays perfectly on my player. Plus the movies themselves are region free. And Amazon was selling it for only $49.99 plus shipping, which is a pretty good deal for seven movies. It's great that this is getting a U.S. release, though. "Are you ready for Freddy?"

So, on this Mexican set, do they default to English audio and no subtitles? Are there any annoying menus when they load up forcing you to pick a language? I'm assuming the menus are themselves in Spanish?

I just want the movies and I'm not gonna gripe about $60 max retail price for seven movies when a lot of us pay $15-25 for ONE movie. Buy it or don't, it's not the end of the world.
I believe the key to the pricing expectations with this release is just that - expectations have already been given based on the first three films and their budget releases. Obviously it well probably never sell for that full price point, but that price point is still high considering how cheap 3/7ths of the collection has already been released. If 2/3 were never released I'd be ecstatic and not concerned with price. But again, I already have 40% off the collection and they'd be crazy to think I'm going to double dip when there is no upgrade otherwise for $60 or close to it. I won't deny we're spoiled, but it's the studio releasing it who has spoiled us.

Good news still that it may be coming soon... the price will sort itself out.

Based on the individual pricing so far... $39.99 seems more reasonable if it also includes the bonus extras disc.

I doubt that $59.99 will be the "sale" price on release week.

the DVD box set was released in a time when the economy wasn't down the drain.

i would have bought this if the text on the cover wasn't in espanol... i would rather have ratings logos on it like the uk set and have it written in english... i also have a region free player so i'm covered on the bonus disc... i'll just keep an eye on the price and wait for it to drop a bit before i pull the trigger

Has it been confirmed yet whether this is going to be a Best Buy exclusive or sold at other online retailers as well? Although, the Amazon product page no longer exists, my pre-order is still locked in and I haven't received an email indicating anything's been cancelled yet.

I am going to buy this set in the US, and if it doesn't include the bonus disc then I will also buy the Mexican set and take the bonus disc from that and add it (as well as the Nightmare Encyclopedia disc from the DVD collection) to the US set and then give away the remaining discs from the Mexican set. Or better yet, I'll just buy the NTSC bonus disc off someone, if I'm lucky.

Why not just get the Mexican set and keep it? Honestly, I don't like seeing foreign language or ratings logos all over the artwork (It's just a preference really, nothing malicious behind it.) I'm going to be importing a lot more in the future, the UK and other regions are getting far better releases than we are these days, that's for sure. But I will just seek out alternative artwork for whatever it is I import, unless it is fortunate enough to lack the prominently placed ratings logos.

Yeah my pre-order is still up too. I called Amazon about it and they said as of now it's still locked in there is no indication that it won't go through. However she also said that they could end up changing it later so.....I guess it means nothing.

Sure but Amazon still hasn't cancelled my 42 dollar pre-order. Hoping they at least make good on that.

It is no longer listed on Amazon.com, so if this set does end up being a Best Buy exclusive, you can expect your Amazon pre-order to get cancelled. Cross your fingers.

I wish they would hurry up and do it if they are going to do it.

Just a heads up - Mexico is Region 1, NTSC. PAL is a European format. A lot of people seem to be confused
