Thank you for the answer. I really wanted to be able to see the Imax scenes for Doctor Strange and Guardians Of The Galaxy (which I still don't have). But if I get a newer TV then the 3D discs will just be a coaster. Shouldn't newer TVs have more and not less features? I know I could buy an older TV that supports 3D, but what happens if the TV quits working? Just keep buying older TVs for 3D discs? As time goes on we're still able to watch DVDs on Blu-ray and 4k players, but it seems like they're practically mandating that 3D discs will be obsolete. This sucks.

Gotta hope for a $19.99 pre-order price at some point, or close w/ GC or RZ points. This $29.99 price is some shit.

Not a problem JR.
Yeah, it's bloody stupid. Surely it's not that hard to include the function. I think the industry are slowly trying to kill it off, as they don't think there's a market.
A mate of mine is a Samsung rep and keeps banging on about how 3D is dead and how there's no market and no one likes it and how curved-screens are the future of 3D. Funnily enough, Samsung seem to be just about the only manufacturer who are actually still keeping 3D alive. Some of their 4K panels have the function and their 4K player (which I own) has it also.
Some 4K disc sets in the US are even being packaged with 3D discs. So yes, there is a market, and no, it's not dead yet.
So, just do some thorough research, as you'll definitely find some options out there for you

I got a optoma projector a while back. it can make 3d movies into 2d and you can see the aspect in 2d. its the gt1080. I am not sure if the other projectors can do that. if you want to watch some great 3d. I would recommend a projector over the tv.

Amazon has really been pissing me off lately.

You get more results for these bootleg foreign apps than actual movies these days. (ie just search La La Land bluray)

They always have the amazon instant video version up for pre-order or purchase but have been slacking on putting up things for pre-order on blu.

Ummm..to my knowledge Samsung didn't have a single 3d panel in 2016. LG had a few with their premium panels and soNY again with premium panels. So not sure where you got the impression Samsung was keeping their 3d dream alive. They were one of the first to kill it.

There's atleast one. No idea when this was released, but you can still buy it.

Like I said, look around, there are *options* if you don't want to buy two televisions.

And as I said, my new Samsung UHD player has 3D capability...

I rarely search for a BD release, outright, on Amazon. Either I use this site or I just scan the preorder list on Amazon. One way or another I will get what I'm looking for sans meaningless listings.

It's the basic superhero origin story, but the characters and the mystical/magical elements help it stand out more than the typical fare. I think it's one of the better Marvel origin stories we've gotten so far. The cast is excellent, and the action sequences/visuals are amazing.

Not a fan of the steelbook cover, and I only get steels for their better cover art, so that saves me a lot of time. Yay! Will just order the basic edition on Amazon. Shame Disney aren't supporting UHD yet.

The thinking is that LG wants its HDR to be more impressive, so it's removing the polarized "screen" from its displays. Since rumors have suggested that Sony will be using LG panels going forward, that means no 3D for them either. Unless Sharp continues to offer it (I don't think they are), then there will be no 3D panel displays shipping next year. Projectors, however, will still have them.

And I agree -- with 4K, passive 3D should be "easy," but -- I'm not an engineer so I really shouldn't speak to what I don't know.

I'll hold on to my Samsung 3D TV (2 years old) as long as I can because I like watching BDs in 3D every once in a while -- that's why I won't be upgrading to 4K anytime soon. Since he essentially ushered in 3D TVs with Avatar, I wonder if Cameron's sequels will have an effect.

This really boggles my mind. I can understand them not wanting to put money and time into re-releasing old films in UHD but new ones you would think would be a no brainer.

Nice, nearly 80 minutes of video-only bonuses. Add in the audio commentary, nice bunch of bonuses when it comes to length. Hopefully the behind the scenes stuff is good and not just fluff.

Pretty small runtime on the special features. Disney seems to be putting in less and less effort into their releases.

Welcome to six years ago... Disney stopped putting effort into their releases a long, long time ago. Beauty and the Beast's 2010 Diamond Edition was their last expansive release. After that, they dropped 2nd 'bonus features' discs and the amount and runtime of special features dwindled.

In this case. Seems like it needs to be said constantly - Disney would not be in charge of special features on this release, just like they aren't on Lucasfilm or Pixar films.
They are created in-house at their respective studio.
E.g. Marvel decideds and produces their special features and decides on the number of discs etc.
Disney simply authors and distributes the discs.

This is why Marvel, Star Wars and Pixar films tend to come with a second disc, expansive features and are usually released in 3D - yet, actual "Disney" films tend to skip all three
