This one might be more bloody and squelchy, though, absolutely, and there are 1-2, maybe 3 moments that have decent brutality ( [Show spoiler] ) but 4 has some more body carnage I reckon. It'd make for an interesting drinking game to compare, lol. |

Grace Randolph tweeted:
I hear Paramount is always developing #Scream6 They’re very excited about it, let’s see how #ScreamMovie does this weekend at the box office… #MovieMath Sunday! Think she meant already*** but she is pretty accurate despite everyone here hating her. |

Re-watched it tonight again and I have to say it holds up extremely well. I was a bit apprehensive on whether the few flaws I had with the film upon my first viewing would get magnified with the re-watch but thankfully the opposite happened. The film does a lot with its running time and it becomes a little easier to process and digest with a repeat viewing. The suspense and directing are still top notch and overall it made me appreciate it more while still being a very exciting film with plenty of nice surprises.
I’m emotionally exhausted having watched it twice two days in a row but can’t say I regret it one bit. Might even try to watch it again a third time while it’s still playing in cinemas. I think it has definitely become my favorite sequel now. It’s super smart and while the directing is a small notch below Wes Craven’s, I think if they do a 6th film they definitely have the potential to reach that ultimate level of horror directing. |

I saw this in a 4DX theater today. It's a lot of fun and the violence and kills feel amped up. Ghostface is really brutal! I had no issues with the cast and pretty much liked all of the new additions. I've seen a few here criticize Melissa Barrera's acting, but she seemed fine to me. I thought she was decent as one of the lead characters of In The Heights as well. This is Scream, not the Oscars. I liked the humor and I think they used the tropes of the franchise really well. Including a very good opening scene.

Scream 4 has a better cast and better killers. Scream 5 has a better Ghostface, better kills, better opening and ending, better soundtrack, best Dewey, top 5 scene in franchise
[Show spoiler] and better directors (sorry the Vaseline filter in 4 is an abomination). 1 > 2 > 5 > 3 > 4 |

Horror films very rarely get an A- or higher. Even rarer for slashers. And I actually don’t think I’ve ever seen a slasher get any kind of A score from Cinemascore. So a B+ for a horror film, especially a slasher, is actually pretty good. I think the highest rating I’ve seen for a horror film is an A- (e.g. Get Out). Given all that and the fact this is the fourth sequel after 11 years from the last, a B+ is actually a pretty good Cinemascore.

I liked the film a whole lot more then I thought I would but I would actually have to say Wes was not done proud here. Kevin Williamson absolutely, but Wes' pitch perfect sleek direction was nowhere to be found. I think alot of people confuse Kevin and Wes' contributions to Scream and it certainly shows here and in other people's reception of the film. I know everyone hates on Scream 3 but I love it and at least that movie had exceptional acting/casting as well as great cinematography.
But otherwise this was a fun night out at the movies with a lively rowdy audience. Just wish the acting had been better and the direction more sharp and stylish! Last edited by 3Maters; 01-15-2022 at 05:59 AM. |

To me Scream 3 is like T3 or X-Men The Last Stand. They pale compared to the first two, but they're enjoyable as popcorn munching entertainment. Scream 3 also should have the distinction of being a #metoo movie 16 years before that started. It slyly outed it's own producer. |

I saw it Thursday. A few thoughts: It was decent enough I guess. I need to see it again. First, I wish the legacy characters had more purpose. Gale and Sydney felt totally wasted to me. Second, I don’t know how Melissa Barrera was the best actress they could find for that role, but whatever. Third, I just don’t understand how Kevin Williamson okay’d that 3rd act and motive. It was just kinda blah. It was anti-climactic. Lastly, did anyone else feel a little dizzy watching this? Maybe it was me, but the camera felt super shaky in a lot of scenes and I felt like there were way too many zoomed in shots.

B+ cinemascore, tied with first two as best in franchise. Scream 3 had a B, and Scream 4 a B-

Was it just my Dolby screening or was this movie grainier than the trailers make it look? It looks crisp and detailed on all the trailers and clips but what I saw seemed grainier - not sure if it was just my screening and because I was watching it on a larger than normal RDX screen.
