no it's because we were in less than 30 people in a 800 seats venue at the main screening on its opening day yesterday. Only a diehard group of kids with the ghostface costumes who did not like the movie and some couples and loners. Didn't feel like a box office hit reception.

I am die hard Scream fan and i think its the best after the first 2. I really dug it and i seen die hard Scream fans say the same many even say Wes Craven would be proud. So i really think you have no clue what you are talking about with this movie.

The new characters were likeable enough but it lacked the feel of other Scream movies.

You can be a die hard fan and still do not recognize a bad movie. On a technical level this film was a trainwreck but I can understand people having fun watching it. At the end of the day it's still the only big horror movie delivering fun meta commentary combined with comedy and jump scares. I just think this was a poor and sad fanmade, straight to dvd, sloppy project. And recycling the first movie does not put Scream 5 on its same level, on the contrary I appreciated 2 and 3 for continuing the franchise with other settings and dynamics while the reboot-remake-requel card was already played in 4 to much bigger effect and creativity. This last one felt confused and lost as if the creators didn't quite know what was the movie's ultimate statement.

I simply said "I do not think this will perform well" based on my experience I didn't predict it to be a definitive bomb. If it turns a good profit it won't be the first nor the last bad movie to make money and just like Sydney, I will survive. But I honestly hope this is gonna bomb so studios will stop messing with this franchise...

35-40m domestic opening weekend from a production cost of 25m for this one.

$616m and counting so far from a total production cost of 143m for the franchise.

4 was in fact a bomb, production relative to BO, and even that didn't stop them from making 5. Afraid it's too little too late for that kind of wishful thinking.

Way to miss the point. It's not about whether or not 4 bombed. It's about everything else you've been saying so far.

"Mr. Weinstein" It's okay if you don't put too much respect on that name. Nobody is gonna hold it against you. LOL!

Been a huge fan of the series since day 1. Saw every single one of them on opening day, most at their first showing.
I only go to see the original ONE time in theaters, but that's cause I had no car and was still in High School, but saw 2 six times, and 3/4 twice each in theaters.

I will only see Scream 2022 one time in theaters, as this die hard fan didn't much care for it all.

I gave it a 2.5/5, worse than all other of the chapters.

So, maybe he does know what he's talking about?

On a side note, seeing that people that enjoyed the new Scream also enjoyed the new Halloween....as a horror fan since the 80s, this worries me. Really poorly written films getting glowing reviews...that's not gonna be good for the genre imo.

Scream 5’s budget has to be no more than $20,000,000 for a minimum of $60,000,000 at the worldwide box office to be a hit. At the worldwide box office, a movie needs to make a minimum of three times it’s budget to be a hit.

If a movie at the worldwide box office makes it’s budget or anywhere between that and three times that, it’s considered neutral at the box office. For example, Heartbreakers (the one from 2001 that’s completely unrelated to Heartbreakers from 1980 something) made approximately $55,000,000 on a $35,000,000 budget (about 60% more than the budget, that’s neutral).

A flop makes less than budget. For example, an indie with Denise Richards called Finding Bliss made $9,000 on a $1,800,000 budget. That’s a flop (actually, the second biggest flop ever, overall. That’s even worse than the dreaded animated movie Delgo from 2008 (approximately $695,000 on a $7,000,000, originally the third biggest flop ever, overall and the fourth since 2012).

I didn't care much for Halloween 2018, it was a bit boring to me but I was happy for Jamie Lee Curtis playing Laurie again. But it had a good concept and lead to H Kills which is a slasher masterpiece imho. Low budget movies but still look way more expensive and packed than the new Scream.

As for Weinstein I think he has produced some of my favorite movies so I can respect that at least. Scream 3 was SOO meta 🔪😂

I can't take you serious enough if you think Halloween Kills is a slasher masterpiece.

But you like what you like. No need to hate on Scream (2022) this much, though.

That's not nice, 4 has been my favorite for a long time. Also, this is my second favorite horror franchise of all time.
