This has been my most anticipated release of all the movies I've seen this year. When I saw the perfect 5.0 rating a couple of days ago it just made me all that much more anxious to get it. I'm going to look into that Target exclusive release too. While I normally don't go for that kind of packaging, this time I might make an exception.

I respectfully disagree with your opinion of TOS Beast, but I still loved this one and the only thing I am annoyed about is that there seems to be no way for US fans to get a Steelbook version of this release. Actually, I am getting really annoyed of late at how hard it is to get Steelbooks in the US if you don't live in an area with a lot of different chains. It seems especially to be the case if Future Shop gets one in Canada, as if they feel the exclusivity should include all of Region A even though FS won't ship out of Canada.
Oh well, still can't wait to get it even with just the plain packaging. Wish I could swing the $90 for the Amazon one with the Enterprise model, but have to save for Christmas. Chris |

From the pictures I've seen of it, I can believe the 5.0 for the picture. 5.0 for the audio is a safe assumption because of it being a big blockbuster movie.
The 5.0 for the movie itself is the hard part to believe. But maybe this particular reviewer throws perfect ratings out pretty easily. A 5.0, I think, should be reserved for the cream of the crop, not everything that's merely good. That's what the other 9 ratings are for. |

![]() only so so acting and a terrible villian ( I mean flat out terrible) does not consitute a 5. But hey...it's his opinion right? Whats really funny is only 6 people even put it on thier 25 best sci fi films of all time. And of the 6 only 2 were higher than number 11. https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread.php?t=120824 Last edited by Elvis; 11-09-2009 at 10:22 PM. |

![]() Of course, he has the right to his own opinion. But as a reviewer of Blu-ray.com, I take him as a voice of this website, and this is a website where the reviewers rank The Rookie and Rambo ahead of movies like Amadeus and The Graduate. And "best of the year" doesn't mean much to me, because I'd rather rank a movie against all other movies, not just the ones that happened to come out during the same year. So far I think 2009 has been a pretty weak year for movies, so of course compared to the other summer treats we got like GI Joe and Transformers 2, Star Trek looks like a masterpiece. But considering the "Award Season" movies are just now starting to come out, I think it's premature to bother coming up with a "best of the year" list anyway. |

But the rating isn't comparing it to other movies.
You can't really say that all movies that recieve 5's are in the same class. They each have to be taken on their own merit. That's what people don't grasp. Also, I'd rather watch Star Trek over all of the films you mentioned. |

It's perfectly valid for someone to think that Rambo is a better action movie than Amadeus is a period piece biopic, even if only ever so slightly. edit: Beast beat me to it, but basically what he said. |

Not sure what you're looking at but Marty reviews about five movies a day. Ok that's an exaggeration, but he's reviewed TONS. If he gives five stars it's because he's thought it through and arrived at a conclusion that's meaningful to him. If you don't agree, so be it. I haven't seen ST yet but it's gonna be a blind buy for me.

He also gave Shoot 'Em Up a 5.0. Is it a perfect movie from a film snobs point of view? Probably not. But is it an excellent cheesy action flick, in a class almost by itself? I can easily say yes to that! It is an opinion, that is all. |
