Living in the US Virgin Islands, everything gets marked way up in price. The launch PS3 was by far no exception. I paid about $800 for it on the day it came out. I wasn't even sure if they would have it here but I remember walking into a local Kmart and asking if they had it and the gentleman came back to me with "one of two" 60GB PS3 in his hands! Needless to say, as soon as I regained my composure, I paid over $800 for it on the spot. Since that day I've enjoyed many games and hundreds of Blu-Rays without a single regret.

I bought an original 60GB just after launch Christmas for $650 CAD and it's still going strong and I do use the slots the odd time, haven't used the 2 additional USB ports, and have played some PS2 games, but not recently.
Great system, wouldn't trade it for any other yet!

I got an original 60 GB, just here recently got a 500 GB HDD in it so this thing rocks now. I use it for gaming (obviously) but it controls all my music and video as well, this is an awesome media HUB connected to PS3 Media Server. You would have to pay thousands more to do what this things does for peanuts. Someone else said it as well, us early PS3 owners probably saved the Blu Ray revolution and I am so glad for that.

Same here, I did get $100 off for trading in my launch PS2 but since the 60GB had BC it didn't matter.
