On the thing of which film is better JP or JW. Think JP will always be my favorite of the franchise. It did such a good job of telling the story and all the characters were done well and likable(except Nedry). JW thought was real good to for me its the best sequel yet. Has some good characters in it could have been fleshed out a little bit more. Both are good to me Park is better but World isn't far behind.

I wouldn't be surprised at all if they decided against exploring that idea further in the sequel because of the vocal dislike for that particular aspect of JW. They have a good thing going here profits-wise and they'll probably want to avoid doing something they know would be a turn off for a significant part of the audience.

Could also be that Simpkins meant there won't be weaponized dinosaurs from a certain point of view. Let's say we have characters who desire it and breed dinosaurs for that purpose, but in typical Jurassic Park fashion it all goes terribly wrong and the animals turn against them. Technically there wouldn't be any military use of dinosaurs then, just characters who have it as a goal, like Hoskins did.

After watching it the second time, I have to think they can't have anymore parks in future films. It's been attempted twice and both times people have died. It'll be interesting to see how they do sequels without them from this point on because it just doesn't seem plausible to have any more legally licensed theme parks. It can be done The Lost World or JP3 style, just no more parks.

Yeah, I see that as a problem. They can't do the park thing a third time (or even fourth, depending on how you see Lost World's ending). They also have to shoehorn Pratt and Howard's characters into it somehow, since Hollywood thinks actors sell these franchise movies (right or wrong).

I would guess they will go with the Woo-mad-scientist angle somehow, even if it isn't militarized dinos. Pratt being brought in as a consultant to help stop him sounds logical.

Dinosaurs cop squad.... Whoopie Goldberg can play the commissioner and Pratt can play the squad leader.

Default Potential Director

Quote:
EXCLUSIVE: Keep an eye on Juan Antonio Bayona as things heat up on the director front for Jurassic World 2. I’d heard his name way back in September, when it was denied, and then he attached to World World Z 2. After Deadline revealed last week that he exited that picture over timing, I am now once again hearing his name as potential director for the Dino sequel. Colin Trevorrow directed the Jurassic reboot, and after it grossed over $1.6 billion, he accepted the job directing Star Wars: Episode IX. Trevorrow wrote the sequel with Derek Connolly and they’ve waited to get a good script before looking for a director, but all this is going to get moving soon for a complex picture dated June 22, 2018. Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard starred in the first one and are expected back.

Back when I first inquired, I was told Bayona has a close relationship with producer Frank Marshall and everybody else there, so their talking didn’t necessarily mean he was directing, and I am told now by all sides that there are no talks yet, or offer for that matter. So all I can say at this point is, keep an eye on Bayona, who directed The Impossible and The Orphanage and is currently engaged in A Monster Calls.

Bayona would be fantastic. The man exudes confidence in his projects.

Bayona? Really? What an interesting choice. Although, the tsunami sequence in The Impossible was intense and very well done. I'm sure he can handle a Jurassic Park movie.

I've heard the rumors before and he would make a very interesting choice of director for a Jurassic Park sequel indeed.

To think how many people will pay to see this boggles the mind.

If Jeff Goldblum doesn't return in Jurassic World 2, they're doing it wrong.

"Trevorrow wrote the sequel with Derek Connolly and they’ve waited to get a good script before looking for a director..."

lol

but seriously, Bayona is a solid choice, no problem with him. Just hope he gives that screenplay a rewrite before they shoot it. Trevorrow's biggest contribution to JW was his direction, definitely not his script.

I went to the theater to see JW, but I'm not going to watch part 2 in theaters.

This movie just seems unnecessary.

I disagree. It was planned as a trilogy.
