IMDB lists wrong info though as IMAX ratio is 1.9:1, not 1.44:1, also about 70% of the movie is exanded rather than the 90% Wan was saying. For people wondering about the ratio itself it's more of the same old, same old - clearly open-matte, shots framed for 2.35:1, though there are some shots that do benefit from the larger ratio (most notably in the 3rd act). I'd say don't expect this one to have an IMAX ratio at home, barring some "IMAX Enhanced" version. Almost definitely a 2K DCP as well, most likely a 2K DI, but literally 99% of the movie is probably 2K visual effects so it doesn't make too much of a difference.

hmm so even at a real IMAX like laser Reading or Lincoln Square the IMAX stuff doesn't go 1.44:1 but only 1.8:1?

This is going to look great on 4K Blu. Makes me a bit optimistic for the Avatar sequels.

Some of the VFX shots appear to have been rendered around 1.44 but are obviously cropped to whatever the final master is.

Blu-ray will likely crop/open-matte IMAX shots to 16:9 anyway.

Funny you mention the laser Reading theater, that's where I saw it but yes, 1.9:1. Same ratio as the Infinity War trailer before it, smaller ratio than true IMAX shows like Dunkirk or First Man.

I've never really been one for size. I tend to sit rather far back in theaters. I use a 40 degree field of view at home and think that works in the theater as well, roughly. Anything else feels overwhelming and you miss details on parts of the screen you can't see in direct vision.

What a great fun and entertaining movie! I'm taking my wife to go see it in IMAX this weekend. I took my son to go see it first but couldn't get the IMAX.

Yep. I don’t miss my projectors at all. Not knocking them, the JVC’s are incredible but I prefer a good panel.

Size was nice, but image quality just wasn't where I wanted it to be, compared to a good panel.

Same with me lol. My brightness diminished drastically after 1000 hours and the greyscale too. People thought I was nuts getting rid of it. Most want size over anything.
