On the video , any amateur photographer knows that the eyeball in an outdoor setting only shows one "catch light" (the sun) but in most of the outdoor scenes you can see multiple reflections from the artificial lighting in the actors eyes , plus , at the end when Jack says "it was beauty that killed the beast" the catch lights in his eyes are square not round (the sun is not square)..... very amateur crew work here , it should have been digitally corrected in post production
Audio wise ...... when I was 8 years old my $1:89 cap pistol had more punch than the Thompson Sub-Machines used here ..... very very LAME man , very very LAME
Two flaws that spoil an awesome movie

Totally missed the whole lighting mess-up, as I'm sure most other people did, but I do remember the Thompsons sounding really weak and thinking "that doesn't sound right for a machine gun."

LOL.... took someone long enough to realize that. I did that long ago to see if anyone would catch it. Forgot all about it until you mentioned it.

I just got done watching it and I think this is the best looking Blu Ray I have seen yet! The pic quality was freakin awsome and the audio was very good as well. I had the regular dvd of this Kong movie and thats now being retired. The only complaint I have is there is little or no extras but I figure that we will see another release of this classic with all the bells and whistles. But for me this is good enough as is. To bad I have to return it to Netflix! Oh well I will grab this on Friday and I dont care if its $19.99 or $24.99. This movie on Blu is worth it. NOW IF ONLY SPEILBERG WOULD RELEASE THE JURASSIC PARK MOVIES ON BLU!!!!!

legit complaint, BUT is this the lasting impression you took away from this otherwise reference audio track? Everything else about this track is top notch.

If you are this anal, you must have a hard time enjoying any movie. Quit looking for things to be wrong and just enjoy for cripes sake.

I picked this up for $19.99 on Saturday an was completely wowed. The picture quality was outstanding; I agree probably one of the best yest. I didn't get to wind out the volume much but was still completely wowed by the audio track as well. The blending between the rear and front channels was fantastic. All-around superb addition to the collection right there.

PQ is not demo, not consistent throughout although it does have demo quality at points. Overall the picture does not pop like some BD's out (pirates). AQ is very good, great in fact.
PQ 4/5
AQ 4.6/5

Exactly, common on..can't people just enjoy a movie without trying to find the smallest details to try to bring it down? When did this new trend started? I must have miss the memo on that

I watched King Kong over the weekend and I thought the Blu-ray was awesome (PQ/AQ). The picture popped and the LFE was shaking my house apart. Overall, this was a terrific home theater experience and well work the price of admission ($20).

P.S., I just love Jackson's Skull Island. W00T!!!

Hey , I did really enjoy the movie.... honestly I love it , one of my favorites, but those 2 things just jumped out at because they were so obvious.
I didn't mind the wire in "The Day The Earth Stood Still" when Gort is carrying the women because of the age of the film , but a modern BIG BUDGET film has no excuse for sloppiness like that

Hehe. The scene that takes me out of the movie is outside the great wall. The real life wall isnt that high but in all the model shots its about 3 times higher and the difference is so obvious it kills the suspension of disbelief for me.

OK , I've got broad enough shoulders to take any slags from you guys here , but my biggest beef is ...... if the natives build this giant wall to protect themselves from KONG , why put in a door big enough for him to stroll through ?
I can see that oversight in the original 1931 movie , but geeez....... and I still love this movie
And don't blame me when you see all the artificial lighting in daylight scenes from now on and it pisses you off because I made you understand it!!

Thanks guys. I know there's the review up... But I feel it's best to get people's opinions here where they're more honest.

I'll pick one up soon.

What a beautiful day... RED 0 BLUE 1 Now I'm just confused as to which one is "Perfect" I have to admit, watching each one on my laptop, the bluray looks better.

Is this regularly priced at $19.99 at Target? If so, I'm price matching at Best Buy so I can use my gift card.

I got mine from Best Buy, I could have sworn that it was $19.99 on release day...

EDIT - I see that now it is $24.99 at BB, lame!

Got my answer as I went to Target and it is indeed $19.99 regular price. Headed over to Best Buy, got the price match for Kong, also picked up Bourne Series. Great night's haul! Can't wait to check out some Kong vs. V-rex on Blu!!!!!
