It's all speculation, but knowing Disney, it'll just be the color scheme of the Blu-Ray because Disney has so far just re-used all their previous restorations from Blu-Ray releases.

With Disney, it's hardly an if. Beauty and the Beast's transfer had a multitude of problems, but they just re-used the old transfer without fixing anything. So far, all the Signature Editions have used the old transfers while Pinocchio and Lion King just fixed their respective errors.

If we get a Target digibook for the new release, it will be interesting to see what's in it.

If I had to guess, probably just a rendition of The Sorcerer's Apprentice. You can whip that up into a kid's Golden Book with little effort. That or a story about the dinosaurs (but realistically Mickey is a bigger draw than a 1940s version of their extinction).

So is Fantasia really getting the Signature Collection treatment or not?

If the Signature Collection had been classier, they'd give us a reprinting of the original Fantasia program alongside some highlights from the artwork used and developed for the movie as the DigiBook.

Ah, and pigs shall indeed fly...

Well, I never got the chance to buy it on Blu-ray back in 2010. Anyways, whether or not it gets the Signature Collection treatment, will Fantasia still get a second release on Blu-ray, as well a digital release on iTunes, Amazon, or Vudu?

There's a picture of it on the Disney Signature website under the "other Disney Classics" section. It was put ther in Jan 2017 it was on the Other section along with TLK, Bambi, LatT, and Peter Pan and before all the others were added. That was when the Fantasia Signature Thread was started so betting odds are up for which of the two comes next and when. Fantasia has generally been a last quarter release so if patterns hold then by the end of 2018.

The Laserdisc was released Nov 1991
The DVD released Nov 2000
The Bluray Nov 2010
Yep! It was I to whom the prophecy was foretold
Went back and found the old post to remember correctly,
from 6-6-17 (Bambi's release date):
Quote:
The [DMA] rep told me that the upcoming vault titles to be released are (in the order that she said, doesn't necessarily mean release order): The Lion King, Lady and the Tramp, and the Fantasias. She didn't have any dates of course, and couldn't confirm how many per year will be released. It's something, though.
It was crazy that she told me all of that, because the call was just about the Bambi digital copy duplicate fiasco. She just said it at the end as a "And just so you know..." thing.
So far, 2/3 (2/4 if you count Fantasia 2000) and those 2 have been in order of how she told me. Holding out hope that Fantasia is after LatT.
Of course F2K won't be a Signature, I'd say a strong possibility of a DMC exclusive. Not sure how its dvd sales held up by itself, if they would warrant a wide blu release this next time around.

Well, even if Fantasia doesn't get the Signature Collection treatment, can't it at least come out on iTunes, Amazon, and Vudu sometime in the future, especially with some extras on the iTunes version?

I wonder if Disney who is so notorious for cencoring, will remove the James Levine segments in Fantasia 2000 under these sexual harassment allegations (Although he still did conduct the orchestra for the whole film.):

or are they only interested in removing black centaur-girls?

They will digitally remove him for the upcoming 4k UHD of the film and the conductor's baton will move on it's own.
Jokes aside, they are hypocrites.
Their censoring and filtering of sound and DNR is ridiculous and Walt Disney is rolling in his grave. He would have never allowed to censor Sunflower, they waited until he was dead and removed her.

Walt most certainly would have removed Sunflower (Leonard Maltin makes an error in his book, The Disney Films, saying that she had been cut in the 50's...maybe she was for the weird widescreen release, couldn't tell you for sure -- more likely it's a typo for 60's that, after 4 editions, he's never bothered to correct -- there are other boo-boos in that book), but Walt being Walt, I think it's more likely he would have her re-animated, just as he did after complaints over The Three Little Pigs.

Well, they apparently removed Louis C.K. from an episode of Gravity Falls, so it's not like they're above that sort of thing.

Considering that the films were removed from Netflix, they are likely to come out this year. But even if not this year, because Fantasia is confirmed as part of the Signature line, we'll see it for sure in the next couple of years.
