Same here. I went to the store today to get it, and then realized it won't be released until Thursday for some reason.

Furthermore I also thought today was Earth Day because movies are usually released on Tuesday and I heard this was released on Earth Day.

I was starting to think that today is the perfect day for stoners and hippies. Earth Day, Avatar, and 4-20 all rolled into one!

Disclaimer: Not calling any Avatar fans stoners or hippies, but I feel like Avatar is definitely a movie that would appeal to that audience.

The the old style 3D only kinda works, and completely trashes the color. It's also kind of headache inducing sometimes, especially for longer movies such as this one.

The thought of Avatar needing an update actually crossed my mind last night. Especially on how it features new protection to prevent screen caps. I wonder if my parent's (Sony model) player will be ok. I don't think it's ever been updated since purchase, which was last yearish. Might have to bring over my ps3

Kind of in agreement with that guy. I dont have the BD, but I did "acquire" a copy of this, loved the movie in 3D, but watching it in 2D just isnt nearly as good.

I got halfway through the movie and just shut it off. The 3D really ruined everything. It looked so damn good that going back to watch this in 2D just results in a lame experience by comparison.

It's horrible, I tried it with Coraline for a couple of minutes AFTER watching the 2D (which was stunning), it completely ruined it imo.

I had a hard time seeing why they included it in the first place.

The old 3-D with the red and cyan glasses is CRAP. I have 3 blurays which include it and i must say it's just horrendous. I would never watch something like that.....

No, no no they do not. James Cameron and crew did not basically 're-invent' 3D filming techniques to have a release of this film in "Old School 3D' with red/cyan glasses. That is ridiculous. When the 3D version is released in 2011, many more will have adopted the 'new' format, but if not 2D it is, they will not cheapen the release nor the title itself by adding an old, crappy version of 3D that is outdated and hated by the majority.

It works, but it really seems to darken the picture and ruin the colors. I actually find 3D on DVD, when viewed on an old CRT SDTV w/ the brightness turned way up to be better than anything i've seen on a HDTV so far.
