I'm guess next year will be the final season? This the last big sitcom juggernaut, and the casts' asking prices probably get more astronomical every year.

The show has already been renewed for 2 more seasons, which will take it through season 12.

I feel the opposite. In the early episodes Sheldon didn't understand people but he tried and he was likeable. Now he is a self centered douche that spends all his time telling everyone how smart he is and how stupid they are.

I've never understood that. At some point every show will reach a breaking point where the studios do not find it profitable enough to pay the salary increases the actors demand. So if the actors can't be paid more they would rather not do the show and get paid nothing?

Something tells me if the ratings went down they wouldn't pipe up to take less.

I have to go back to the 90s to find any truly great comedy series anyway. I'm not sure why this show has done so well. It's not awful but is not anything special, either.

The studio will make the $$ back in syndication anyway. It's on so many channels it's ridiculous. And the more episodes they have, the more $$$ to be made.

And, imho, they're right. There are no other sitcoms out there. i fully expect us to get a BBT reboot in 10-15 years at the rate we're going.

They can afford it as long as the 30 minutes is split 18/12 - run time vs commercials.

Many episodes without the theme song and end titles and removing transition scenes are in the high 17 minute range

Episode 16 this season was actually only 17 minutes WITH The theme and end credits included. That's the shortest one this year.

After seeing that some episodes this season were only 17 minutes, I'm glad I've moved this show to my wait-for-the-Blu-ray list. All that fast forwarding would get tiring.

Makes sense. Whenever I watch TBBT, I'm left with a "That's it?" feeling and I can't really remember what happened in the episode.

TiVo solves that problem with the skip button, even though the episodes are getting ridiculously short.

Season premiere was okay. Nice to see some actually progress for some characters. Raj annoyed me though since it's really his own fault he has nobody. Stephan Hawking was funny the first time but a little dragged on the 2nd time.
