I preordered from Amazon UK and my copy shipped on Monday (8/9).

I ordered the steel book from amazon UK and it shipped last Saturday, August 7th. Usually takes about a week to a week and a half to reach me in the States, so hopefully it'll be here tomorrow or Monday.

Thanks for the feedback from the both of you.. was curious I tried ordering two or three dvd/ bds from that "preferred merchant" before and after about 5 days of waiting I just canceled the order.

This sale should be smooth enough then.

Just got my copy! The transfer looks great.. Love this movie. I also think they did a good job with the artwork, it's definitely one of the better looking steelbooks in my collection.

I think Psycho ties with Highlander for me. Cannot wait to see Black Rain SB and Flash Gordon SB later this month in my hands.

My steelbook order arrived yesterday. Exactly one week after it shipped. The case was in perfect condition.

As for the movie itself, the transfer looked terrific. It blew away the DVD from the Masterpiece Collection. I haven't seen the SE DVD that came out after that, so I have no idea how that one looks.

The 5.1 remix was disappointing though. A lot of the sound FX were not the ones I was used to hearing from the dozens of times I'd watched it on TV and DVD over the years. Thankfully they included the original mono track(in lossless quality, no less), so I can just select that when I pop it in. I'm hoping Universal gives Vertigo the same respect.

The UK steelbook looks very nice and played perfectly in my Sony BDP-S550!!

I agree.

Maybe they think that since the players do upconversions, then why should they bother. But I would think that professional equipment would be better than a consumer player in upconverting 480i/576i, so I would rather the authoring house do it.

Most of the extras on Psycho are from the Laserdisc and DVD releases so these would never be in HD especially the ones completed on video.

Oddly, the Blu-ray.com review for the UK set does not list the Blu-ray Disc exclusive extra: Psycho Sound even though DVDBeaver does.
