They even remodeled Lara in the game series when they realized they were going to need bigger breasts.

I doubt this will happen.

As per the article, she's just a name on the shortlist of actresses the studio wants for the role but hasn't been approached yet. And she's going to be busy with Star Wars until 2019.

When are they expecting to start shooting this thing?

As a fan, I'm more anxious to see Daisy Ridley in a smaller film, like a comedy or drama, than jumping right into another blockbuster franchise.

You still haven't seen TFA, right?

Clearly there's a difference between the cutesy, plucky, scruffy kind of toughness as seen in Star Wars, and the more hard-hitting, mature, acrobatic, vicious hand-to-hand combat, sex symbol type of toughness required for Lara Croft. Surely that is obvious to anyone, surely.

Or maybe dig less deeply where you want to dig, and more deeply elsewhere - like in the talent department, where she fits perfectly.

This movie will be another disaster of a video game adaptation, so I don't want to see Daisy do it merely based on that. She already has her big franchise, so I would love to see her in more dramatic roles. Mark my words, she will be an Oscar contender down the line.

I'd be okay with Daisy for Croft. Wonder if she'd have time to even do it in between Star Wars though.

Me too. In fact, I think Ferguson might have the upper hand between her and Ridley. I just hope the script would be halfway decent and there would be a competent director onboard

Definitely Ferguson over Ridley. Even though she's not English, she's got way more charisma.

Have you played the new Tomb Raider games? Daisy is perfect for this part.

Lara is more scrappy and a survivor than in the other games.

Daisy Ridley for a younger Lara Croft. Rebecca Ferguson for a more mature Lara Croft.

The way he posts he seems more to care about her body than he does seeing a film anyways.

Pretty much, if they don't offer Daisy the part first, it's going to be hard to like it. If they offer it to her but she has to decline due to scheduling, then I would support a second choice. Just don't screw it up.

I'm a massive Tomb Raider fan and have been since it's inception. But I can't really see Daisy Ridley playing Lara Croft...

At one stage there were talks of Olivia Wilde taking on the role. Even though she's not English, I could see her playing the part. But there are quite a few actresses I can see in that role.

Well, She doesn't have a lot of on-screen experience to judge her by so as I said, I'm hoping she changes my mind in ep. 8&9. I'm certainly not judging her acting skills, I think she was great, but every actor/actress has a certain skill set and does better in certain roles. For example, Mike Meyers will never be James Bond, but Mike is (was) great at what he did.

Spirit Zero's comments elaborate on my gut feelings below...

I haven't played any Croft games since back in the day admittedly, but this image is...awful! is she wearing a wig? lol!

Still, can't see Ridley in this role at all, maybe as a teenage Croft in a flashback before she grows up hehe.

Gotta say, Jolie was perfectly cast for the original movies back in the day.

Daisy Ridley Confirms Talks for Tomb Raider Reboot
By Max Evry on March 21, 2016

Daisy Ridley confirms talks for Lara Croft role in Tomb Raider

A few weeks ago, rumors hit that Warner Bros. and MGM were making a list of potential Lara Crofts for their Tomb Raider reboot, and that Star Wars: The Force Awakens star Daisy Ridley was front-and-center on that list. At the time, no conversations had been held and Ridley was among many others being considered for the role, but now the 23-year-old actress has told The Hollywood Reporter that there “have been conversations” even though she hasn’t officially been offered the role, nor is there a completed script.

“I’m waiting for someone to say ‘I want you, let’s do it’,” Ridley said, adding that she’d be keen for the opportunity. “Absolutely, I’m trying to fill up my calendar,” she added.

Meanwhile, her Star Wars co-star John Boyega also told the publication that he was the one who first recommended she go after the role, which would involve sliding into the tank top once filled by Angelina Jolie.

“I played ‘Tomb Raider’ the game, it’s a new take and I think the movies are going to be based on that version,” Boyega admitted. “But I texted Daisy [and] was like, ‘this is you!’ and ‘you need to get on that because you could be Lara Croft.’ She should be.”

Ridley is currently in the middle of production for Star Wars: Episode VIII, with Star Wars: Episode IX set to follow not long after, so the actress’ timetable for another adventure franchise could be slim.

Roar Uthaug (The Wave) is set to direct the new Tomb Raider movie from a script by Transformers 5 scribe Geneva Robertson-Dworet.

The original Tomb Raider was published in 1996 by the London-based video game company Eidos and became one of the most successful video games of the time. A reboot of the series, telling the origin of Lara Croft, was released in 2013 and sold over 5 million copies. The most recent game, titled Rise of the Tomb Raider, is available now for the Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PC.

Paramount Pictures previously made two movies about the daredevil archaeologist on a series of global missions. The films, Lara Croft: Tomb Raider and Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life, starred Angelina Jolie and grossed a combined $432 million at the worldwide box office.
