Can anyone who has the BD-P1600 confirm that this is an issue with the player ?????
I have had Star Trek seasons 1, 2, and 3 for a year now, and have been more than patient waiting for a firmware update to fix my issue. in three of the episodes (Doomsday Machine, Mirrror, Mirror, and Enterprise Incident) they start with garbled sound and pixeled screens. The show gets stuck, then unstuck, but a few seconds have passed that were skipped over. This only happens on these three episodes, and in the same exact spots each time. There are no visible scratches on the discs, and I have tried various methods to clean them. |

I havn't read the whole thread, but is it true that there's a problem with the BD-P1600 reading BD containing 2 cuts of a movie (hancock / gladiator / angels and demons) ?
My sister have a BD-P1600 and when she watch the remastered gladiator BD, it sometimes freeze/skip for a few seconds. The problem is not the disc because it plays fine in my Sony BD player. She doesn't have any problems with any other movies..... |

This player has a history of not reading certain movies DTS tracks. Causing it to skip and or go out of sync with the picture. I had problems with most of the discs on the Star Trek season sets as well as Potter: UE's. After getting some tips from members on these boards, I decided to dump the sammy for a panasonic BD-65. I must say, what a major+ in PQ and playback. Sammy may make great TV's, but they suck at some BD players............

A good friend of mine was talking to me about his 1600 today.
He originally had the BDP-1000 and I helped him with several Firmware updates but eventually that player was just deemed un-usable. Sadly... He bought the 1600. Anyway, He thinks he should give up on it. It has a problem now and he says the FW is up to date. I think it's worth trying to fix. Am I wrong,... is this player junk or is it still ok? Edit- I went over and tried to help him. His problem was with the players network connection. We couldn't sort it out and he's going to get his third player now. The Samsung BPD 1600 will sit in a box on top of the Samsung BDP -1000 in the attic. The good news is this new player will be anything but Samsung. ![]() -Brian Last edited by bhampton; 12-10-2010 at 04:39 PM. |

Everything I tried so far failed miserably. The damned thing reads everything BUT the movie files on my external hard drive. It reads mp3, photos, but the movie files (avi, mkv, whatever...), NOT. I tried changing the name of the files, putting it the root, in folders, whatever. And I can't find anything about that issue on the Internet. Everybody seems to just give up... ![]() Please, any help? Or a direction? Peace! Last edited by kaleidoskope; 12-31-2010 at 03:08 PM. |

I absolutely need your help because in my case the only things I see are the photos and mp3 files. The movie files don't work at all, no matter the type (avi, mkv...) |

Be very careful with firmware updates. I own a BD-P1600-XAC (Canada) and when i tried to upgrade to version 2.15 of the firmware my player went dead !
Can't do anything with this box now, it simply shows 'LOAD', displays nothing on the screen and not able to play any disc. It's now just a piece of junk. What's event worst is that although it really looks like a bug in the firmware, SAMSUNG wont do anything to help me. ![]() Last edited by F1Prince; 03-16-2011 at 02:02 AM. |

Update: I turned on my Blu-ray player and I was notified that the 2.16 version was available. Since the 2.15 firmware brought on the problem that I couldn't play the new Fox Blu-ray movies, I upgraded to the 2.16 to see if it fixed the problem. Thankfully I can now play the Fox Blu-ray movies I was having problems with. The firmware has fixed the problem. I'm happy about that

I have a BD-P1600. It stopped working about 2 weeks ago when my kid tried connecting to Netflix via the player. I just tried loading a BR disc and it is dead. The player will turn off and on, and open and close. The TV (Samsung series 6) doesn't recognize the player via HDMI cable. The BR player stops with LOAD on the front. I called Samsung and they said it crashed during an automatic firmware upgrade (I never consented for an upgrade AFAIK, my kid my have accidentally). I tried DLing the latest firmware on a USB stick but nothing happens. Holding FF for 5-20 seconds does nothing either. Is this player done for or is there anything I can do?
