With the monster box-office number It will achieve this weekend I halfway believe over half of King's oeuvre will be announced as green-lit studio projects by Monday.

I can't express how much I absolutely adored this film. I frickin' loved each and every one of the kids in this and their chemistry together was fantastic. They felt like real kids, not the typical "movie kids" and because of that the things that happened to them seemed even more horrific. It was hilarious and sweet and horrifying and eerie and heartbreaking all at the same time. It was everything I expect from a movie and more. This is why I love film and I cannot wait to see it again.

I can not stop thinking about this film. We haven't had a horror film that fires on ALL cylinders of this caliber in a long while. This will go down as one of the greats...and the best "remake" since The Thing. (I know some will scream it's not a remake, but oh well).

I completely agree, this will be a classic. Can't remember the last horror movie I saw in which I loved the characters THIS much. Horror is subjective but this was nearly perfect to me.

4.5/5. The acting was superb, the humor was spot on and the scares were actually "scary". And talk about tension, the last act is amazing. Edge of your seat stuff. One of the greats to be sure. See it in the theater!

It is a remake, but I prefer to use the phrase of "polishing a turd", since Muschietti took the same material and knocked this out of the park. He delivered the IT movie that most people have been hoping and waiting to see.

Just realized Muschietti has worked with Chastain in "Mama"

Although rumors are that WB wants to be cheap with casting Chapter 2 but with the money this is making they may be able to change their stance on that a bit.

Love Chastain, but Amy Adams is a better fit for this.

Loved it! Saw it on Thursday night and will definitely be seeing it in again soon. I kept comparing it to the 1990 version (which I also love) as I watched, noting the similarities and differences. It was especially fun to do that in the scenes where I wanted to see more gore/scares in the original (hello, S.S. Georgie scene) because this version delivered them.

I enjoyed the entire cast and found them all to be worthy successors to the 1990 version. We all love Tim Curry as Pennywise, but Bill Skarsgård did an excellent job filling his shoes. Can't wait to watch it again and own it myself soon!

A friend and I tried watching the original It years ago, but couldn't sit through it. I guess it started out slow and boring for us, we eventually took it back without finishing it. I did buy it on Vudu earlier this year, but again never have got around to watching it.

The same friend and I went and seen the new one last night and I loved it. By far one of the best horror films I have seen in some time!!

Forbes is reporting a $51M opening day. Let's put that number into perspective. It's a higher opening day than Spider-Man Homecoming, all while being an R rated film without the benefit of 3D. It's a monster.

Oh absolutely but I think she has a higher quote than Chastain but like I said with the money this is making all bets are off.

I'd tend to vote for "none of the above" on this. People keep posting here & all over the web about casting the sequel with a bunch of megastars. I think that would be the surest way to completely ruin the movie. Look at how good the kids were in part 1, and we've never heard of any of them before, except Finn, aka "that kid from Stranger Things". They don't need stars, they just need good actors. I'd much rather see a cast of mostly unknowns than any of the names being suggested.

In the past 24 hours, I've seen $44 million, $47 million, $49.6 million, and now $51 million all being touted as the opening day total. The numbers just keep going higher & higher. IT just cannot be stopped.

And you can already picture the headlines Monday: "Monster opening for 'It'", "'It' takes a bite out of the record books", "Box office beast"...
