I heard it's the slightly altered 7.1 track from the 3D release. That one had Mountain Lion sounds added for the Raptors in the kitchen scene.
The best track I've heard so far of JP is the 5.1 DTS Laserdisc track. It has more bass than the theatrical DTS track.

But even then I am not counting on Universal to bring the original 35mm print colour timing on the home front.
I suspect you are right it won't happen. For the 30th anniversary they'll most likely just release a 30th anniversary boxset with the same UHDs that we got now. With the addition of the Jurrassic World trilogy. Unless Spielberg himself cares enough to get involved or something.

Is there any reviews for The Lost World or JP3?

I've tried my best to proove to you guys how farther removed from the original colour timing the UHD is. Now, if you still prefer the present colours then I really don't know what to say to you guys. Universal home video department has destroyed the original look of the films in favour of a pale video-like pink and cold look.
Well, it's difficult to prove when you keep posting this production still where the jeep is GREEN. How does that prove it's supposed to be sand beige? You keep using this wildly inaccurate still, but I honestly don't know for what purpose.

That's because it was mis-encoded and is 10dB too high. The surrounds are 3dB too hot as well.

For someone who is fanatical about theatrical grading the sound being screwed up wouldn't be "the best".

And this is supposed to be the worst shot of the movie CG wise.

These plates were not scanned at 1K btw, resolution was around 1.5 as i can read online, i'm sure i've read somewhere 1.8 (T2 was nearly 2K). When in the Cinefex interview Dippè speaks about the brachiosaur sequence he only says that these plates were digitally scanned and worked on alot (like trees replacements), with, basically, Photoshop.
It also shouldn't be forgotten that in these shots water is digital, birds are CG, and they even had a digital heat distortion filter all over the valley.
Taken with a camera from a printed magazine (Cinefex, which is not big in size at all):

UHD Left, Cinefex Right

According to Muren, anyway, these shots should look much better than any optical.

I've never heard the laserdisc track, but the DTS:X track shakes my room quite effectively. Especially the T-rex roar that caps off the paddock attack sequence which is by far one of my favorite sound effects ever. For some reason, the sequel T-Rex roars feel more subdued to me. As if the bass is almost fully removed in favor of just the treble.

I'm a proponent of appropriate bass. I'm confident quite of few members here would find something beneficial from hearing an audiophile's effort at surround. It's a shame no one here has shared experiences.

In any event, since the core 7.1 is unique, then that's yet another subset of members who should consider the upgrade, despite grain management concerns. So, those who lack object-oriented, go for it!

So, now we're using uncalibrated PC monitors to compare SDR-transformed and data compressed video screenshots to

scans of magazine pages

for the purpose of color reference to film prints?!

i don't think he's trying to show those as a colour reference, rather showing how soft the uhd can look in the cgi shots

You intentionally selected only that production still but left out the ILM freeze-frame from the film and the numerous other evidence I provided. Barring the 2D Blu-rays, almost all other photographic evidence, including the perfect JP Motor Pool Jeep paintings (click the link and see), all point to the fact that the Jeep was Sand beige.
The biggest evidence comes from a dialogue in 'Jurassic World' where Ty Simpkins' character Gray looks at the old Jeeps in the garage and says "1993 Jeep Wrangler Sahara Sand Beige." Zack then replies, "You remember when we fixed up Grandpa's old Malibu right?"

Again, look at the colour of the Jeeps. Same Sand Beige, Nothing like the 2DBD or the 4K UHD -

^ Yes, we can ONLY IMAGINE. I think Universal, left to themselves, will never allow the original look of the prints on home video. Because then it'd mean them accepting that they were wrong with the colours on the 2DBD and the UHD.
The only reason the 3D slipped past their fingrs is because Spielberg was involved and StereoD oversaw both the scanning and the colour-correction. Universal's home video department was not involved in that. I think Spielberg is too busy with his new films to devote time to home video versions.

A lot of people seem to be treating the first movie's UHD as an upgrade without question, but I don't think I agree with that. If you're really sensitive to DNR/smudgy look, which I am, then I could easily see an argument for preferring the BD, flawed as it is. As I said in my post last night I'm really 50/50 on it, so someone saying "eh this UHD isn't worth it" makes total sense to me, depending on priorities.

Yeah, it still baffles me that people use screenshots and picture of film prints to make comparisons. There are so many variables that change the colors and just overall look when capturing them from the source that they should not be relied upon at all to make proper comparisons.

On the one hand you have UHD screenshots getting converted to SDR and to a narrower color palette, with most getting further compressed when uploaded, then most people seeing them on uncalibrated displays. That alone puts them in a far-removed place already, so using them negates any proper comparisons to the UHD.

Any pictures taken of a film print will be vastly changed due to the light and background color present behind the film when the picture was taken, light around it, and then the light of the camera if any. That changes the colors and dynamic range of the film too much already as well, so it negates using them for proper comparisons also.

So why in the world is anyone using either of these types of pictures and screenshots to compare the transfers when they are already so far removed from how they really look at their respective source (UHD disc and film) by the time they get to the forums?

My faith in humanity decreases lol.

I own the UK box set of the first 3 films, holding out hope for some great box set of all 5 films with proper transfers on UHD.
