The game landscape is very scenic and nicely done with the exception of one bamboo forest, where you can literally walk right through the bamboo trees or stand in them, as they have no mass attached to them for the game engine.

Visually though, this game is impressive with the day/night cycle, which is a little fast but really nice with dawn and dusk.

I still have to unlock the upper island. I tried swimming there but then it tells you to turn back or drown. So I turned back. Darn it. It's something to work towards.

But yes, the landscape is not as flat as I first thought based on a video I watched. There are some decent forests here too with large trunks. Not just bamboo forests.

Combat is nice with the ability to block.

I am WAY late to the party on this game. Bought it holiday 2020 and am only now getting around to playing it. Started on Monday and what a fantastic game! Can't really add anything that hasn't already been said, but I'm really enjoying this one all around.

It's got such a calming type quality to the open world that is different vs any other open world game I've played. It's just a joy to play and once you get a feel for the combat is very fun from that perspective as well. Graphics are fantastic and game runs beautifully at 60fps. Great audio as well.

Try to minimize stealth and ghost tactics (i.e. fight honorably) when possible. It kind of sucks but the more you do that, the more it rains late in the game.

FYI

There hasn’t been a better game on PS4/PS5 in the AQ department than Ghost of Tsushima. It uses actual binary analog 3D Audio.

Meaning any PCM Output to any Audio device will deliver true 3D sound.

Too bad Sony would rather patent 3D Audio than go with a standard that has literally been around for a full century.

Derb I seen your signatures. Can you please tell me what brand internal ssd you have on your PlayStation 5?

WD Black SN850

The one that didn’t come with a heatsink. If you plan on getting one, you’ll need a heatsink.

Great info, thanks! GoT certainly sounds excellent overall. One area it's slightly lacking in I've noticed though compared with other games is low end support which is a bit thin. A game like Horizon Zero Dawn for example which I just recently played has noticeably superior LFE support.

I 100% agree with you on Sony's 3d audio support focus though and wish they would put their energy towards a universal, tried and true audio format like Atmos or whatever. I do all my gaming in my HT and have ZERO interest in using headphones.

This game just keeps pulling me in more and more.....loving it!

Hearing/reading people talk about this game always makes me want to go back and play it from scratch again

I’ve put in about 300 hours into this game, mainly through Legends. I’ve done everything in the main game and all the feats in Legends. Currently the game has become my chill game, where I’ll just sit down with it for an hour or so and do side stuff all over again in ng+ while listening to Spotify in the background. God, I ****ing love this game. Easily a top 5 of all time for me. Can’t wait to see what they do with a sequel.

No online MTX BS or online requirements.

Truely a gem coming from the guys who brought you infamous. When I heard they were behind this game I definitely admit to being sceptical.

Sucker Punch seems to fly under the radar when the conversations of best Playstation studio comes up and they should be near the top of that conversation in my mind. They’ve never put out a single lackluster game on Playstation in my opinion.

Infamous 2 and Ghost being among the best of the best.

Get me a PS3 so I can play that game. I was shocked to see that I somehow never played the game when going through my trophy list a little while back. Really weird considering I loved the first one, highly enjoyed Second Son, and then liked First Light even more.

I'm relieved the impressive Ghosts of Tsushima is very much unlike their Infamous games, which are well made, but are missing a few key things that could make them better games.

Its on PS Now and could probably be played at 10FPS with your internet connection

In terms of aesthetics and technical merit I think Ghosts was a big step up from Infamous but I still think the Infamous games were a lot more fun to play. I enjoyed exploring the initial area of GoT but after that it became too repetitive and the game almost felt like it was playing itself. Not much challenge.

Cheapskate, and we go way back... on here.

I'd pay for a PS3 myself before I'd use PS Now.

I love this game but even the Orcs in shadow of mordor put up a better fight and were smarter than those dumb Mongols.

Luckily for me my PS3 is still alive and kicking…in storage for now. Might have to break it out for some inFAMOUS or PS3 Ratchet and Clank one of these days.
