Still I can't find any other confirmation that its going to be $18.98. The site says $24.96
$18.98 - $19.86 . Most of walmarts has tagged same price .

John Madden sure can.

If anybody here is friends with him, maybe he will let you play your Avatar disc on his giant screen.

Stores get fined if they release movies before the release date. Hence, the midnight release. If they choose not to open at midnight, what can you do? I can almost garauntee that you will pay more for it there though...

Default Upconversion of AVATAR - 2D to 3D

2D to 3D conversion on my Samsung UN55C7000 55" 3DHDTV & Samung BD-C6900

As far as the 3D conversion goes, it wasn't that great. Some of the scenes converted really well, and other scenes were regular 2D. I hope samsung comes out with an update or something for the tv so that the 2D to 3D looks better.

My opinion is, this a great HDTV, but right now, not a great 3DHDTV due to the fact that right now there is only one 3D movie out right now. I will definitely be waiting until more 3D movies come out and see what they look like.
Monsters Vs. Aliens looked really good on 3D. Hopefully in the future there will be better 3D films. What i mean is, live action films.

Alright, I'm getting kind of nervous guys.

Are you sure all big name stores will have enough copies for everyone? I'm planning to buy it sometime in the AM-NOON time, not at midnight....

Walmart just dropped their online price to $19.96. I printed a copy to take to the store.

Well it looks like they are planning on re-releasing avatar with an additional 6 minutes in theaters in August. So there will probably be a re-release on blu-ray a few months after the re-release.

Here's the link

http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/hero...-and-more.html

p.s.

the link also talks about the sequel

I read a post by a BB employee who said his store had 600 copies. If they are all Blu-ray that is a hell of a lot.

Well I read, probably on here, that 50% of the sales already are blu-ray, so chances are they'll have tons of each. Just depending on when you get there and everything.

As much as these things creep me out, I might end up buying it and seeing what all the fuss is about.

There is really no need to worry. Avatar will not sell out, it is a huge title. They have planned for this to do big numbers. Everyone who wants one will get it.

Got a nice surprise in the mail today, my copy of Avatar. I wasn't expecting it until tomorrow. It's nice to have it before the stores in my area are selling it.

Default Poll: Avatar first week sales numbers world wide?

Ok, I am going to start this poll. I haven't seen one yet and these can be fun at times.

The record for first week sales in the Blu Ray format is "The Dark Knight" which sold an estimated 1.7 million copies world wide. During the same time period, DVD sold around 11.8 million copies. Which was about a 15% market share for Blu Ray.

What will Avatar do?
