The stands look good tilapiah ! I don't know about the fronts or surr. stands but the sub (GRAMPA) stand needs foam under the stand itself !!

The question is.... did it make a small, big or huge difference that you were looking for.

I know, I know. I'm about to pull the trigger on a bunch of foam from The Foam Factory (thanks for telling me about that site) and at that time I'm going to put foam underneath each speaker and some behind each speaker. I plan on doing a sideways pyramid effect like so that the foam looks nice (the wife is VERY concerned about foam all over her walls ).

So far I've noticed a lot more clarity with the surrounds, which now sit up about 7 inches higher and are now nicely isolated from their environment, and the same goes for the fronts. I can hear a punch of bass coming from the fronts now that mixes perfectly with the sub.

As for the sub, HOLY CRAP. The difference is huge. The bass is nearly completely un-muddled now. The sub is now much more like a direct and un-noticeable extension of the front soundstage. Punches, kicks, and gunshots can be felt through the chest much better now. I can't recommend a sub riser enough. One can be had for 50 bucks of material and a couple of hours to put it together, so why wait?

Liquidice,

Sub risers belong to Subwoofers section. They really are not part of room treatment. Anything you do to the walls belongs to room treatments. Sub risers affect the long wavelengths of bass sound. They are like adding poly-fill and dampening material to the inside of the cabinet or replacing the driver.

Well I did mention in my post in that thread that I was putting foam on the walls as my next project. If you want it deleted I'll delete it, just please let me copy/paste it to save it before it's deleted.

No, you are ok. You have done a beautiful job of building the risers.

Thanks BD. Coming from you, that means a lot. So how much of a difference would I get from filling the sub with polyfill... HMMMM.

replacing my 12" subs feet with some foam rubber this weekend sometime. I'll post pics. Nothing earth shattering, just this thread has been so quite lately. I guess we changed the world by everyone building risers and stuffing their subs? Perhaps....perhaps.

Liquidice,

I have something up my sleeve. I ordered 16 Buttkicker RI-K28-4 Small Vibration Isolators. I plan to attach them to the legs of the four risers in my HT room. If you say please, I will let you know where I bought them and how much I paid for them.

now we're cooking! Ah yes, the mighty buttkickers, another void in my mind as I have never experienced what they are built to do. Yes, please, share your info with me, whether through posting or PM. I'm curious though, aren't you supposed to attach buttkickers to furniture that your directly in contact with?....for instance your butt?

Edit: Just looked these up online, and now I see what they are. Guess I should have gotten that when you said isolators. Anyways, the V1-43 looks thicker, and maybe better for my carpet? This is all very cool. I'll be checking my messages when I return from work today!
