I was thanking the heavens that scene didn't make it. Can you imagine the backlash if it did. What the hell were they thinking?!

Goddamnit, so right! I was crushingly disappointed by both the Halloween and Suspiria discs. No commentary, no meaningful interviews, nothing of note on the making of. Hell, they couldn't even be bothered to throw the trailers on!

I guess I've been spoiled by the boutique labels like VS and Arrow and the kin, where they'll load the disc up as best they can.

I don’t think that was an actual scene. More like a goofy outake.

Maybe we get a handful of these insultingly terrible five minute promo interview things that hint at interesting material and end. If they’d just stick the full interviews that were cut into the EPK bs, it would probably be a big improvement. Unless that’s really how little they talk to everyone seen in them, I dunno.
While it's true we get much less in the "documentary" department from studios lately, outside of Fox, we still often get deleted scenes, gag reels, commentary tracks, etc. I think that's pretty good really considering how slashed the budgets are at home video departments.

This release really is a bare bones one though, which is odd for a "cult" genre. Usually I would say re-releases don't happen much anymore, but this might be a rare case where it seems possible. Of course people said the same about Gone Girl 4 years ago...

Watching this for the first time and this is the great film.

8/10!

Loved the last Halloween film, but decided not to get the Blu-ray release. Why? When I saw the BBFC listings for the extras, I was disappointed by the running time of the featurettes and deleted scenes, especially the featurettes (they were around two to three minutes long each). I thought the film deserved a feature-length documentary (Rob Zombie's first Halloween film got a four-hour documentary. There wasn't much I liked about his two Halloween films).

Looking forward to seeing the first trailer for Halloween Kills.

The lack of meaty extras was pretty disappointing, but it was still nice to see some brief roundtable with Carpenter and Green and some others (it's been many months since I watched them). This was one that really had me wondering why they set up these recorded discussions with the filmmakers and then use less than ten minutes of footage as an extra (just so they can say it's there?).

Would be neat if when all three new ones are out they go all out on a bunch of features.

Were there scenes in the film which were highlights for you? One of the scenes which I thought stood out was the spotlight on the back garden 'bumping off' scene. Liked the use of light and shadow (and it was well shot).

I’m still disappointed this film doesn’t have a commentary with Green, McBride, Blum, Curtis, and/or Carpenter. All the other Halloween films have at least one commentary (even Resurrection), so it’s disappointing that this didn’t get one.

So, noticed these turning up in Walmart as part of the holiday season stuff.

Halloween: 40 Years Later

Unofficial new title/rebranding by Universal?

It was sharing shelf-space with a double feature release of Halloween II/Halloween III: Season of the Witch.

I'm sure they're saving it for the eventual double-dip.

Yeah, it's part of that Glow-In-The-Dark range they do for Halloween. They had all the usual suspects like The Wolf-Man, Creature from the Black Lagoon etc.

That should've been the title.

Bet on a stacked boxed set of this whole trilogy after the third one is released.
