I have about 3 hours left before I drive to Wal Mart...I looked at their website they dropped the price down to about $20 and they're giving out stickers for the first 50 ppl...(I could care less about the stickers) but the movie...

I know some of us are complaining, but I'm curious to the lucky viewers of Avatar. Is this release friendly with CIH (Constant image height) set ups, considering the theatrical release was cropped in scope for 2D and some 3D screens? I hope the image retains the compostion similar to a super 35 production and the subtitles are close to the safe zone for 2.35:1. I'm just curious to those that had gotten to watch it on blu ray?

OK I'm back

About 30 people on line at Walmart for 22.96.

I saw some people put back the DVD and say get the Blu-ray anyway blah blah blah.

I finally found a reason to use the DVD, I watched it in my car on my way home (I know not safe) But it looked great on my Clarion 8 inch screen and the LFE was awesome on just the DVD in my car.

So peace out people time to crank this *****!!

oops 22.97

actually the movie was not supposed to be seen scope really. It was cropped for 2-D theaters, the 3-D version was 1.85:1 and was stated by Cameron that it was his preferred way of doing it

I'm at Walmart right now in Kenner, LA and they have a table with an avatar cake with plates set up, empty case for the blu's and employees are still setting up! It's now 11:36 new Orleans time. I'm the only one here waiting for it...

For gladiator they took the "ancient master" and converted to digital and applied the DNR and Edge Enhancement to counter the smudging of the DNR. This is a re-master. Dear Lord , please stop.
Hey, Focus Features Universal guy, if a 25 GB disc is just an upscale, are you suggesting that Doomsday, a 2008 Universal release with a lossless soundtrack, was just a cheap upscale or a title lacking full video quality?

If so - shame, shame, shame!

OK I have to say this now if it makes sense to anyone.

I saw this NOT at an IMAX theater but it was in 3D. As I watch this now I think it is not the same with the top and bottom bars removed. The height looks right but I swear there is information missing from the sides.

This movie has been formated to fit your screen.

I try to block the top and bottom and see what it would be, and there is NO WAY!! Heads would be chopped off.

I call shenanigans. But it IS REFERENCE QUALITY.
