You guys are some die hard fans to drive out there at midnight and get it

I'll just wait for Mr. UPS to give me my copy tomorrow.
I'm too tired to do that tonight, hopefully tomorrow they'll have copies.

Do you have a link for it? If that's for the blu ray, then...

The subtitles are player generated and do indeed look like their theatrical counterparts (even down to the placement) whenever Na'vi dialogue is translated.

WOW, look at the reviews on avatar already. I guess whenever a perfect movie comes out people are gonna find faults in them. How can you rate the movie a 3.5. I guess everyone that saw it in the theaters was saying the same thing. NOT. Thats why i don't right reviews on here anymore.

If you mean the Nav'i subtitles, they seem to be higher up than normal, like they are the original 2.35:1

Why not wait until tomorrow morning to have saved $4?

Or price match Target.

Of course, I suppose, if you were already there and didn't get anything that would be three trips (there, back and then to Target) to get the movie which probably would equal out to the $4 in gas

Okay.. Just got home from Wallyworld. I arrived about 15 mins before 12 and I was the only one there waiting at that point. By the time I made my purchase, about 15 people were behind me. While waiting for them to unpack movies, they started getting calls about the midnight release. Apparently, they were all turned away from the Best Buy down the street because they cancelled their midnight release at the last minute! I really thought they'd be more waiting for this tonight. As I reported earlier, they had a big cake set up (which no one seemed to care about)! The price I paid was 19.50 plus tax. This was all here in Kenner,LA ( a small town next to New Orleans.
Anyone else experiencing weak releases?

I wouldn't call 15 people standing in line right at midnight for a home video release (here in south LA at that) weak.

I've never even seen another person in the blu-ray section at Walmart here that I recall actually...

Nope for the size of my town 30-40 people at walmart on a Wednesday night was a lot. not counting the other people in their pajamas shopping for diapers and fishing poles.

Definately go back and get them to adjust the price. My walmart had it for 19.50! It did ring up originally at 24.96 but they were adjusting the price at the register at every purchase!

Just got back with my copy of the Walmart edition. It was $19.96. It came with a small lenticular card. I got the very first copy and there were about 30 people waiting. Sorry about the crappy pics.

But some examples would be Robocop, Total recall, Sum of all fears, the first terminator 2 release. Almost any movie filmed pre-bluray will be upscaled and not Re-mastered to a bluray format such as AVC or Mpeg.
Er... T2 is / was a major HD master from 2003, and any film in 35mm have about 4 times the definition of 1080p. You're shooting from the lip here. Remastering have nothing to do with mpeg2 or AVC, this is the encoding.

Don't let facts get in the way of an anonymous Internet poster who claims to know what he's talking about

Just to clarify one thing movie releases aren't as big as they use to be. Its all about game releases now.

But to answer you question is was about 40 people at my local moviestop for avatar. They had a pizza stand and all.

I say weak because when Lord Of the Rings came out originally on DVD, for example, they had a strong 35 to 40 people waiting. I just thought there would have been more interest in this title. The people waiting tonight for Avatar were getting both bluray and dvd onlly versions. I'm talking about Avatar as a whole, not just on blu! I agree that the market is a little different down here compared to other places...

Just got back from Walmart also, I was busy removing the stupid sticker they put on the slipcover as soon as I got home(see above pic), what a PITA to get it off and keep the slipcover perfect. Oh and the 3D sticker sucks too, I was all ready for something at least nice to look at, but it looks like crap. Oh well, at least got it for the 19.96 price, so still happy.

I got there late, about 10 past 12, there were already many sold(cashier did not even have the 3D stickers yet and people were not getting them who had purchased earlier). There were at least 20 people in line plus more coming in when I left (and like above poster, my bluray section is also a ghost town most days)
