[Show spoiler]I don't know how to use spoilers but I've seen the movie and know how it ends..

so stop reading if you really don't want to know...

it ends the same way as the 1989 film THE WAR OF THE ROSES in an homage to the acting talents of Danny DeVito and whatshername...

Part of me thinks this might actually be a sequel to H2. Here are my reasons:

1) Michael’s hand looks like it’s burned, which it would be at the end of H2. Of course, maybe it got burned in a different way but it still makes me wonder.

2) In the trailer the documentary crew say they’re investigating the murders of three innocent teenagers. Perhaps the rest of the dialogue was cut off and they mention the other victims in H2.

3) The fact that it’s just called Halloween makes me wonder if the absense of a subtitle is to not give away that it’s a sequel to H2. Perhaps when we’re all sitting in the theater the title will be different, similar to how the end credits of the It remake say “Chapter 1.”

This is probably all wrong but it kinda makes me wonder. And it would be cool if Laurie discovers that Michael is her brother in the new one. There’s never been a Halloween film where we see her reaction to that knowledge.

It’s a sequel to the original. That’s it.

That's what it seems. Taunting him with the mask and saying her name.

Fair point. Actually I doubt the writers of the original put in as much thought toward character motivation as we're doing now. Let me suggest the victims were all nubile, like his murdered sister. Better?

Well, he can't stab them in plain view, can he? But the old woman in the house... why?

The second trailer actually was worst than the first because Laurie has now turned into Kevin McAllister and a Hillbilly yelling out the name of a person she has zero ties to over and over again. This movie will be one of the biggest let downs of the year.
Didn't know you've acquired the technology to build a time machine. God, your constant negativity on this movie is so tiring. You clearly have no interest in this movie, so why continue to stalk this thread? Go be a negative nancy somewhere else.

This is the first Halloween entry I've been looking forward to in a very long time. As a fan of the franchise, it's been a roller coaster ride but it's nice to see things are back on track. I'm optimistic, but once the movie is out we'll have a clear answer how well they did.

I guess you've decided to ignore the multiple post where I said I will be seeing this lol. I make 3 post today and its considered "constant" lol give me a break.. Nothing to do with a time machine, I have a feeling this is going to be a let down. That is how I feel, If I'm wrong I'm wrong. stop crying

It's constant because you were whining about this movie all the way back when the first trailer was shown. You've never said anything positive about it, yet you still come to this thread every day. Why even bother seeing it if you already know it's going to be the biggest disappointment of the year? It doesn't make sense. I can't wait to read your scathing review when you get back from the theaters since you already know you're going to hate it.

Halloween II has been such a huge part of my love for this franchise. I still remember going to the theater to see it...standing in line and lovin' the movie poster and lobby cards that were on display. I know others may disagree, but Halloween and Halloween II feel like one long movie to me.

It's going to be hard to disregard the events of HII and accept this film as being the "new" Halloween II. I love what I saw in the trailers and I think it has the potential to be one of the best sequels, but part of me still wishes HII was canon.

do you only pick and choose what you want to read? I said if I'm wrong I'm wrong.. I haven't said anything positive about it because I haven't seen anything positive thus far. I'm not going to just lie and kiss the films ass because I'm a Halloween fan. Lol whining and stating how I feel is two different things sport. I left my thoughts on the first trailer as I did on this one. Just because they're different than your thoughts doesn't mean I can't give them. This is the problem with teenagers these days. If you don't agree with their opinions its world war III. Just relax, my words aren't hurting you. You have ZERO money invested in this film.

oh p.s. The force awakens was awful

I always watch I and II back to back. Couldn't agree more. I also wished this started off after the events of II as well. Laurie's revenge would make much more sense and Michael returning to Haddonfield would work as well. The trailers are only giving me vibes of banking off nostalgia of the previous films. Seems like a cheap attempt to get people invested in the franchise again. Majority of the comments in here have been pointing out the references of the previous films.

So since this is ignoring HII, can we even confirm that they're scrapping the sibling storyline altogether?

Is it possible they're still related, just re-revealing it in a different way without exactly playing dumb to the audience.

I think there’s pretty much no chance of that happening. Carpenter probably wouldn’t be involved with this movie if they resurrected that plot device which he always hated. There’s a higher chance of Busta Rhymes making a cameo.

Yeah, I think scrapping the whole sibling thing was probably one of the top reasons for re-setting all the way back to the 1978 original. I thought that was dumb and unnecessary even when I was twelve, when I first saw HALLOWEEN II.

It’s been confirmed for a good while now that the sibling angle is gone. That was literally what got Carpenter interested in DGG and McBride’s pitch.

I'd imagine it was money that got Carpenter interested.

Yeah, it's not present in the film. In the trailer, Laurie's daughter stated that them being siblings is just made up.

Could be misdirection with Laurie hiding the secret?
