When Chinaman entered the water the dragon tattoo on his chest would have come to life and attacked the player, and he would also have sent sharks after Raiden.
Vamp also inherited other abilities from Chinaman, such as running up walls.
It is said that Chinaman would be able to be revived from death by bringing a tattoo on his arm into contact with water.

But I forget why he was deleted

From where I've heard of, when they got rid of Chinaman, Vamp was originally going to be a woman.

Yep it's true, early concept artwork of Vamp featured him as a female.

Yes, but since they already had a woman in MGS2 ( "Fortune" )
they decided to make Vamp male and bisexual. l

The fight with Raiden and Vamp from MGS4 scene wouldn't look cool if he was female.

There was also another member called Old Boy :

Old Boy was a former member of Deal Cell who was killed prior to the events of the Big Shell Incident. Before his death, he was over one hundred years old, and had been a Nazi general.

Not much else is known about Old Boy. It is unknown where or how his fight would have been. However, Old Boy's appearance and age were incorporated into the MGS3 character, The End.

So I have a very tough decision to make here in a week:

MGS4 comes out on the 12th, of course, but I only have till the 21st to play the game since I'm going on two weeks of vacation starting that day (I know, big problem right ). I don't really want to take a 2 week break in between this game, but I doubt I can beat the game in 9 days including all the other stuff I have to do.

So, these are my options: Start playing right away, and play as much till I get to an appropriate time to take a 2 week break, then finish the game after the 4th of July.

Or

Wait until I get back and play the game then.

If I choose to wait, I could pick up essentials pack and play those games since I have not yet played them (although I watched the gametrailers perspective series so I know exactly what would happen )

Unfortunately if I wait, I have another commitment which might delay me till the end of July till I can finally sit down and play the game to finish without any interruptions.

I'm leaning towards the former choice, although it would be nice to actually play MGS, MGS2, and MGS3 before I play 4. Then again, it might wear me down with metal gear solid games

Well I just got the MGS4 headset!!! It is so cool!
Alas, I got it the day I have a GIANT FLOOD in my basement.. for the FOURTH TIME this year!
After fixing and replacing 3 different sump pumps each time, this time the power goes out in the middle of a giant storm and viola... another flood. This one is really bad so we are replacing all the carpeting.
To make this already long story short.. the flood has kept me from trying out my new head set, but at least it looks cool so far.
It was a surprise to get it too since they moved the release date up and I didn't realize it till after it was here, cause they sent me the update via email.... which I could not check for almost 3 days.

LOL! This guy's concept is ridiculously bad and stereotypical, including the nickname. The jumping sharks are just too much for me, haha! Old Boy, the 100-year old Nazi general sounds hilaiously goofy too. Glad they were phased out. Granted, there are some parts of the Metal Gear series that are over-the-top and require some suspension of disbelief, but those two take the cake! Maybe there's some lost member of the Beauty & the Beast Corps that didn't make the final cut. Immature Donkey or Preaching Walrus?

Anyway, good stuff, that info.

We've taken the 2006 E3 trailer and synched it up, frame by frame, to what players can expect to see in the full version of the game when it's released next week. Be prepared to be impressed.

Chinaman and Old Boy both appear as members of Dead Cell in The Last Days of FOXHOUND. A perfect read to get you in the mood for the impending release. There are 501 and comics and it covers from Liquid's joining the unit to the first Solid game. It just ended a few days ago.
