Does anyone know where to get plastic sleeves for any size poster at a reasonable price? Also, what 'kind' of stores would have them so I can check locally?

Are you talking a sleeve for a rolled up poster, or a sleeve that you would hang on the wall for a flattened poster? And where is 'local' to you, what country?

If you are talking for a flattened poster for hanging movieposter.com sells them... not cheap mind you, $325 for 10... scroll to the bottom:

Yeah so many people think it's a poster when it isn't, and that is because websites tend to report everything and anything as a "poster" and when they do, people get it in their heads that it IS a poster they can buy, when it's not, so then certain dealers tend to copy, scan, and print the image into poster or print size and sell it as such, which then in the eyes of the person wanting it validates it as "original" because they read that it was a poster.

I can't imagine the studio would go through the trouble of having that QR code on the poster, to lead someone to a site that showed just the image, if they were not planning on doing something with it, again, perhaps a midnight screening giveaway print, etc, but it's unknown what the real meaning of it is yet.

I believe they have a presence every year at SDCC and have some sort of exclusive prints sold each day. I believe they aren't technically listed as being there but they said they will in fact have a booth and have print drops each day and signings too. Don't be surprised if you see something related to Dark Knight Rises being offered.

If you are looking at poly tube sleeve material to store your posters individually rolled, ULine.com carries them in various sizes. If you are looking at flat plastic sleeves, while Roar pointed out, that website carries them, the price is quite expensive. I can get you 29" x 43" PVC plastic clear sleeves which are bigger than a standard movie poster by about 2" on the sides and 3" in the length which allows you to store a few posters per sleeve and some "breathing" room all around the poster too. Send me a private message if you need more information.

Well I really would like to flatten them out to inspect them first of all. Some of them, like the Avenger posters, I'll definitely look to frame them.

I was thinking of putting them in the sleeve and hanging them on the wall (that way, the poster can be displayed and won't take damage) using blu-tack or some other adhesive that won't damage the wall. I have no idea if blu-tack would be strong enough to hold the weight of the poster and sleeve though.

But also storing them flat seems better for me personally because I'd want to look at them from time to time.

I'm in Australia and Australia really isn't big on catering to poster collectors.

Appreciate the help!

When I set-up at a convention I generally have a display and use the Ultra-Pro top loader storage sleeves to display sample posters of what I have available. They work quite well and as mentioned before, larger than a typical movie poster. They come 10 per case, each individually wrapped in plastic too, but the main problem for you would be shipping to Australia, which would be very expensive, however, if you have any local shops that deal in sports cards, they should be able to order these for you. I can get them but it's the high shipping costs that would probably not make it worth your while:

They look perfect for what I want to do. I'll look around locally but I'm not liking my chances. Australia sucks

IF it helps at all, the posters I buy from eBay only cost $10-12 to ship here. Not sure if the sleeves can be put in a poster tube or something

But let me know if you figure out the shipping costs.

Obviously being so far away is what will hurt you price-wise because these sleeves can't be rolled, they are semi-rigid plastic and if you attempt to roll them, trust me, they will crack, which is why they must ship flat.

Regarding posters being shipped to Australia, more than likely those are shipped First Class Mail but you have to be careful as the postal service doesn't allow for insurance to be added to First Class parcels, so if a tube arrives damaged, or it gets lost or stolen in the mail, the seller probably won't do anything about it since there is no protection on their end. Not trying to scare you but all it takes is one lost tube or damaged one. There are ways to insure First Class parcels through 3rd party companies and it is something I am looking into myself to start offering as right now as the only method I generally use is Priority Mail International and that can get quite expensive. I don't trust First Class Mail because a lot can happen between the time it ships to the time it arrives, which is why I am hoping to finally add that service with insurance added soon to keep costs down for the international buyers.

Wow, are movieposter.com ever out to lunch on their pricing... either that or they are enjoying a rather sizable markup. The ones you've linked to really look like the ones they have in their store, though the write up on the website says the ones they sell are open ended, which I don't think is really a good thing or a bad thing, I can't believe the price difference.

How much do those sleeves run each (the big ones from Ultra-pro)? I bought a roll of the stuff from Uline that you suggested.

Seems to be lots of options out there... some sites even offering singles.

I don't think they are offering the 29x43 ones, I think theirs are 27x40 but not produced by Ultra Pro either. Remember there are flimsy ones out there and then there are semi-rigid ones like the Ultra-Pro ones, which are nice, because while they aren't super thick, they do have some rigidity to them.

The polytube sleeve material that I use to roll posters up for shipping are the 2mil thick 2" opening x 3000 feet roll. I didn't care for the higher mil thickness, 2mil works well and the opening is enough for one poster. A roll will last a collector a very long time.

Yeah, I ordered those like you suggested. They only hold one though? Could I fit 2 or more?

You have to remember it's all in how you roll a poster. Since I do it on a daily basis I have it down so that I don't damage the poster, because if you don't roll it properly you can damage it by putting ripples in it, etc. I wouldn't recommend putting more than one poster in the sleeve.

If you can still cancel your order, I would do that, and let me send you some sample of the 2mil 2" opening that I use, and if you are happy with it, then you can order it from ULine, I should have suggested that to everyone first when I posted, that way people would have an idea of what it is like, etc. So long as people cover the postage, etc, I have no problem sending enough for one poster so they get an idea of what it is like.

Zero, which style is it you needed for The Dark Knight to complete your set? Don't forget the 2009 re-release style as well.

Could only find http://www.cardaccessoriescentre.com.au. Sent off an email to see if they could special order the larger ones.

In my search, however, I did find these for the banners that I have: http://www.posterpassion.com.au/prod...tand_lite.html

Out of curiosity, how much would it cost you to send them, Kinsella?

Told you Australia sucks. Don't know what to do now.
