Finally saw IT this afternoon. A few observations: It almost seemed like they very specifically and actively eschewed any call-backs to the tv version. It almost seemed like they only chose scenes and story-lines that were left out of the original tv version. I'm not necessarily disappointed by this line of thinking, just aware of it.

It felt a bit rushed in the setup of the characters and their interactions with each other and Pennywise started at full-bore scary and cranked it up from there. It felt like a four hour movie edited down to almost two.

The ending with IT felt pretty interesting, in a fast paced kind of way, but when IT said 'Fear' and drifted apart and fell away to 'die' felt too ambiguous to me to warrant the emotional scene with the palm-cutting promise. I loved the build up to that scene, but I feel that the kids should've either believed that they killed it, or thought that it wasn't over.

Liked the vague mentions of The Turtle. Thought there could've been a ton more character and plot development, but I am more excited to hear about part 2 than any other upcoming film.

From what I've read, they've already filmed more flashback scenes with the kids that will factor into the ending of the next film, so that's pretty cool. This film is a freakin' monster and should be given the 'Peter Jackson' treatment for Chapter 2. I hope it's at least 3 hours long.

Also, Andy Muschetti said he would like to do a 'Whole Bloody Affair' edit after the 2nd one is released, and that could possibly be pretty awesome.

'IT' is one of my absolute favorite books and I really like this version, even though it seems a bit rushed and fast-paced edited.

Saw IT tonight. Mixed feelings right now. I felt like Pennywise was probably the weakest part of the movie to me. Tim Curry was Pennywise, and Bill Skarsgard was trying to play Pennywise~if that makes sense. Combined with the goofy look just didn't work for me. If it were a coming of age movie with the kids, it would have been really good on it's own. The horror aspect was just kind of average. Richie and Eddie were definite standouts. Will watch it again and get the bluray, but glad I have the original movie.

The actors in this film are fantastic, and, from what I've heard, the fact that the cast is best friends in real life makes their chemistry on-screen that much more real. Definitely a day-one purchase for me.

(Does anyone else feel the same way I do? I'm kind of curious as to what people think.)
Best horror movie of the decade for me is definately The Witch. No contest. However, IT 2017 has sparked in me a new found love for Pennywise I've never had before. I've always liked Tim Curry, but because of this fresh take, which to me looks like it will stand the test of time, I I'm going to read the book, even. Ok, actually I'm going to listen to as I drive, do chores, and other things, but still.

I've been thinking about potential actors to play the losers as adults and here's who I see in the roles:

Bill - James McAvoy
Beverly - Amy Adams
Ben - Chris Pratt
Richie - Bill Hader
Eddie - Elijah Wood
Mike - Chadwick Boseman
Stan - Ben Foster

I really hope this was the case and we get the 4 hour cut on blu ray.

I love Tim Curry's Pennywise the Dancing Clown, with his perfect dead-pan Brooklyn accent, but little Billy Skarsgård has that dead fish look that all the chicks love these days.

I lol'd at "dead fish look". It works on this fag too, though. I've always found him a strange kind of ugly-cute, if that makes sense. He's like handsome, cute and sickly looking all at once.

I freakin' love The VVitch. My favorite Steven King book is probably IT too. It's one of the biggest books ever, but I highly recommend a full actual reading of IT.

Although I don't think that she's a great actor, Kristen Wiig looks a lot like Sophia Lillis:

I loved it when they go into the sewer and you get to see IT's home I hope it gets more screen time in Chapter 2.

Kingsman has plenty of buzz and could pull a $40-50 million weekend. Easily the only major threat to IT until Blade Runner.

Is the movie graphically violent? My reason for asking is in your opinion(s) what would the age cutoff be if you planned on taking your son? Thanks.

There are several scenes of graphic violence commited against children. I wouldn't recommend taking anyone under the age of thirteen.
