Price first. Besides, the way my living room is arranged, I had to use floorstanders - no rear-wall behind my couch for mounting. And decent stands are damn expensive (and the 684s were $500....).

And lazyness to build my own,

The stands for my 705s were $375 for the pair.... which I thought was steep (they're great though) but when it came down to shelling out $425 for a single stand for the HTM7, I was dumfounded

You buy directly from Elemental Designs which keeps the costs down. plus they have free shipping, excellent customer service, and good warranty's.

Plus if you buy a package you get 15% off that's what i did.

Exactly. $425 for a center stand? I'd die.

holy s*** This is your first venture from the HBIT to a proper audio/surround system??? You choose very well.

I spent 6 months working in Miami back in 1999, I really enjoyed that city. I have always wanted to go back and visit. Really one of the restuarants I enjoyed the most was the Vietnamese dive in the middle of little havana (or little cuba, not sure what they called the area).

But congrats on the equipment, its all nice...

It is! I'll quote this post that I made on another thread:

I'll be making my own thread about its assembly some other day...still got coursework to finish.
I love Miami. I'm never leaving the city.

...and, thanks, JDC.

Yeah it works well. I thought movement across the front may suffer cohesion wise. I think with the mains the soundstage is so vast it sort of alleviates this problem a lot.

The tapes used to angle them up to ear height are only temporary. I'm going to get some steel plates made and spike them to see if there's a difference. I know quality speaker stands make a huge difference when i used the centers as mains, so we shall see....
