Knowing how many styles will be produced isn't really that difficult. You look at the previous film's posters and when they are released, but in this case of Iron Man 2, there have been two advance styles (the first film had only one advance) and that the film is due out in a few months which is only really enough time for one more style to be released, which will be the final/regular style which will have the credits, and perhaps a montage of characters on it. I suspect that it will be released in early April, maybe late March, but probably early April is more realistic.

There is a poster shop here in Seattle called "Innervisions", they buy posters from me, and I believe they do linen-backing for posters. The owner's name is Steve if you want to give him a call, tell him you know me, and get some advice from him on what the best way to go about doing it, as he would know more than I do. That would really be the only way to get the fold lines out for the most part. Cinemasterpieces.com also has some great images of posters that were Linen backed. I really have no experience in it, but it is form of restoration to the poster, you won't make the lines disappear completely but you can get somewhat close.

Regarding the poster without the lettering I mainly deal in posters from 1990 to upcoming releases, but I believe they did just the one poster for the original Alien release and then they did a director's cut Mylar style poster a few years ago. I believe the latter version was numbered too.
Actually, there were 2 movie posters for the 1st Alien movie; the one showing the egg and the rarer and more valuable advance poster (I happen to own both Originals as well as a rolled Italian egg poster - the other 2 being folded). Here is a link for the more valuable advance poster: http://www.filmposters.com/movie-pos...p?ProdID=13863

Just received my order from Kinsella5 "Jon" and everything was in great condition. I'm interested in what else you have available. Would love to get my hands on a Big Trouble In Little China and John Carpenter's The Thing.

Yes, I've seen the advance poster before. Not to take anything away from it but it's not one of my favorites. Pretty awesome that you own an original though.
I love looking at a movie poster and knowing that it's an original and not a reprint. Makes you feel like you're part of movie history or something.
I think what I'll end up doing is framing a reprint and keeping the original in "the vault".

Any tips on keeping the original in good condition? It's in a plastic sleeve now.

Well, if you intend on storing it and don't want to put it in a frame (all of the ones I had framed were done using archive/acid-free material), I would recommend acid-free envelopes and you can read further here: http://www.moviepostercollector.co.uk/storage.html. My oldest poster BTW is an Original 1943 "Bataan" and I have this folded and stored in an acid-free envelope because the options mentioned in the above-referenced URL would not be recommended for really old paper products like this. Hope this helps!

Thanks for the kind words and the order too. I mainly deal in originals from 1990 to upcoming releases. I don't think The Thing is very expensive poster, I personally would love to get the Tyler Stout Alamo Drafthouse The Thing poster, now THAT is a cool poster.

Keep it in a cool dry place, out of the sunlight naturally. If you can find an acid-free bag, if your poster is folded, I would suggest that. Folded posters can fit in acid-free storage bags, probably the Life magazine size ones or Treasury size bags would work. Most Comic Book stores should have them for sale, and you probably would just need the one bag unless you have more folded posters. To give it some rigidity you cold put in an acid-free backing board too.

That would make sense about the release date, not overly surprised they are doing two final styles, but do are you sure one isn't an International final?

Nothing in stock for Iron Man 2, hopefully I will have some news a bit later on them. If you are on my mailing list, you will be the first to know, but I have yet to get an update out in awhile, but need to soon.

I loved John Carpenter's "The Thing", it's a film I can watch over and over again and never tire of it. If you haven't seen it, go out and rent it, in fact, just blind buy it on Blu-ray, you will enjoy it. That is when special effects were old school, not computer generated for the most part. But I have to say I am really against this prequel. For those of you who know the storyline of the film may agree. There really is no reason to have a film based on the Norwegian camp site. We saw enough of their back story in the actual film already. I'd like to put my ideas down on paper for a true sequel to the film, that is what it is screaming for (especially once a person sees the ending). Maybe it's time to write....

I'm new to this whole collecting posters thing but I want a poster that was just announced/released on the internet a few days ago. How long before websites start to sell the poster after it has been shown for the first time on the net?

Also I haven't read all the posts but besides the websites listed on the front page of this thread what are some other good sites for posters?

Congrats, can you post a photo? Is it the lenticular type that is solid/flat only, or the lesser grade ones that you can roll up like they did for Species 2?

Welcome to the thread. You may want to go back and re-read it all, I give a lot of information on the originals. It is hard to say when a poster will be available through dealers such as myself, it could be a few weeks, or a month. Some dealers may not get it at all, others may though. Which title is it? I don't have a website persay but you can always email me directly at questions or titles you are looking for. A website is in my future though, but there are some other good poster sites out there. Cinemasterpieces.com if you are looking for older posters, MoviePoster.com is a good dealer, a few others. I personally would avoid MovieGoods.com, many of their posters are reprints that they produce themselves.

Hey Jon, what about a Twitter page? maybe update everyone like that when you have some time or something... if I've asked this before, I apologize... I'm not myself these days, been sick for awhile.

I really need new posters... my theme seems to be action and horror in my room, lol.

Thanks for the reply I am looking for a Ramona and Beezus poster. I decided to go for a reproduction for money issues but I was wondering if I bought a double sided poster and just put it up on a plain wall with no poster lights or anything but I will have a frame for it will I be able to still see through it? I think I am going to buy from MoviePoster.com and most of there reproductions are double sided.
