I am going to just use this video for reference for the one line.

Yet the lines from Karen Allen and other are pretty flat.
The only person that seems like they are in is Cate Blanchett.

I do not know if it is the actors or the takes. But as the video shows the take in the trailer sounds more invested.

It’s a bit rich that a guy who sounds like he’s got a dick in his mouth is out there making videos criticising Harrison Fords delivery.

I wouldn't go that far, but he does sound a bit tipsy.

The "libary" line is kinda annoying, but the weirdest one is when Ford says "mythical" like "muh-thic-al", almost like a record skip. They left it in the final film, and it even starts off one of the trailers. Maybe I'm missing something, but it seems crazy that they just rolled with that.

I've been an Indiana Jones fan since I was kid in the early-80s and first saw Raiders of the Lost Ark on VHS. Temple of Doom was one of the first movies I ever saw in the theater. I grew up on the original trilogy and have watched them countless times as a result. Crystal Skull I've obviously watched less since it came out in 2008, but I've still watched it a lot in those 13 years now. I love all four films. It's my favorite film series. But my rank of personal preference is the same order in which they came out: Raiders / Temple of Doom / The Last Crusade / Crystal Skull. Nobody but me makes up my mind as to what I like. I read film reviews for fun, but they don't influence my likes/dislikes, and I never pay attention to places like Rotten Tomatoes.

The trailer for the film (or at least one of them that I remember; it might have been the original teaser) used a different take of Ford saying "Part time" that actually is better than the one used in the film. Another alternate take used is when Indy and Mutt are in the catacombs, and Indy is astonished by what he sees but stops Mutt from walking forward. I remember Ford's facial expressions in that take being a lot more expressive, like he says more with his face than his lines in that shot, than the take ultimately used in the film.

EDIT: I somehow failed to notice until just now that the very part I quoted from you did mention the trailer. Haha! D'oh.

Kingdom of the Crystal Skull has grown on me in recent years. The first and middle acts is rock solid and as good as it’s predecessors. But the third act is bogged down with an unnecessarily long chase scene and way too many characters; Mac should have been written out at the camp scene. Marions inclusion feels forced and although Karen Allen tries, her performance is uncomfortable and serves no purpose. While the staging of the climax in the throne room feels like they couldn’t figure out how to close out the scene once the skull was returned. If anyone was asleep at the wheel it’s John Williams, otherwise it’s a decent entry.

It just did not feel like anyone wanted to be involved with Crystal Skull but Cate Blanchett. Most of it could be down to editing. If some scenes are cut and other are added, then it could get better. It still would have issues though.

The chase scenes are not good in the movie. There is just an element of danger that is missing that scenes like this had. Which again could be down to editing and camera angles.

As for the "Part Time" the cut used in the movie is Harrison using his voice, and not the lower Jones voice.

Anthony Hopkins is quite the mimic. He dubbed Lawrence Olivier's voice for the extra scenes added back into Spartacus.

So, here's a wild idea from my brain...

What if... he's playing a very old Henry Jones, Sr. who after all, was healed by and drank from the Cup of Christ? Can Hopkins sound like Connery?

I'm ignoring that Crystal Skull showed Sr.'s publicity Last Crusade headshot framed on Jr's desk. Okay... I ignore that movie in general. One viewing was enough for me...

That would be an interesting idea. I’m sure Hopkins could do it! He can do a lot!

I think that would be in poor taste, since Connery just died last year. And Jones Sr. was already declared dead in Indy 4, so it would be weird if they walked that back. And I'm sure Hopkins would rather be doing something else in this movie than just replicating another actor.

He could be Marcus Brody’s long lost brother Ivan Brody.

That would not work, considering that Henry Jones, Sr. was already dead in 1957. And Sean Connery REALLY died last year.

It would be tasteless, to put it mildly.

Also, there a lot of us that like Indy 4 (regardless of the repeated feces-flinging some here like to do). We wonder how you expect any kind of respect on an Indy board, when you say that it's not one of the films "you like" even though you haven't seen it (and don't intend to), then say things like this:

You've already bowed your back to loudly-broadcast criticism of Indy 4, so consider yourself an internet-tabloid subordinate.

Chris

PS: After watching Temple last night (my least favorite of the 4, with a screenplay full of holes), I will say that anybody that watches all 4 films objectively (without having made up their minds already based on someone else's knuckle-pounding), will find Indy 4 to be not far behind Indy 3, and far superior to Indy 2.
I am an Indiana Jones fan from the '81 Generation, and I like KOTCS.

It's not my favorite film in the series, but I still enjoy it.
