Although, thankfully DHL provides a tracking number so I can see it was transferred to USPS on Wednesday morning, a USPS tracking number has been generated, and it's been sitting at the post office 5 miles from my house. Why couldn't DHL just handle this the whole way? I would've had this by Tuesday or Wednesday, at the latest.

So I call the USPS, 5 miles from my house, and ask them to check a tracking number. The guy answers the phone, and I can tell he's had a very long day. So as we wait "for the system to boot up"(whatever that means )...after about 5mins he says: Nope it's not in the system. So I tell him the DHL's tracking said it was dropped off at this facility 2 days ago. He said it's not in the system. So I ask him, how does it have a USPS tracking number. He hangs up.

It's no wonder the USPS is bleeding money!
He hung up on you??!!

Oh HELL NO!!

Lol - I'd go Down There (tomorrow if you can't today), ask for a Supervisor & relay that same story above. I'm sure that guy would get a nice talking to. That's complete B.S.

ANYWAY... Hopefully it'll show up tomorrow or Monday - good luck !

Wooo! Turns out it really was just a firmware issue on my Creature disc.
Runs fine now
So far I've watched Bride Of Frankenstein, The Mummy, Creature From The Black Lagoon, The Invisible Man, and parts pf Dracula and Frankenstein. This set both looks and sounds incredible!
Money very well spent. Hope universal keeps treating their classics like this from here on out!

[QUOTE=rickah88;6600065]Okay. Calm down, and type in an orderly fashion, so I can understand you.

To answer all your questions:
Because this set just came out a couple weeks ago.
Again discs are made in batches. If something goes wrong in one particular batch, the whole thing could be bad. Obviously you got a good set.
Customers, almost, always get different avenues of refund/return/compensation. It all depends on which CS rep you get.
Had you read this thread you'd know you are not the only one to have gotten a "completely fine set from the UK", others have posted theirs works with no problems.

Are serious with your line of questioning? It sounds as if you think there's some big Universal Monsters conspiracy afoot.

Your set plays fine, allow other to discuss potential problems with their sets. That's what these forums are for: Sharing information.
Not just a steady stream of: over BDs, +1's

I'm really bad about using my cell phone for response..sorry about that.

Other than some not so refined edges the set is fine. The photos displayed are BS for sure and the Creature problems was a FW update fix for some folks.

It's not like the Strek problem or any other problem reported. Someone panicked and others fed the fire. Too much of this going on here lately.

Just so YOU understand...this IS how defects get recognized: by people reporting problems. If the problems are widespread enough the studio, most likely, will get involved. If it's a few bad apples(and bad apples DO happen), then the distributor will cover the customer and get reimbursed by the studio.
For the most part, this is a pretty civil thread, with what seems to be honest fans of these classic films. So I don't think people are pulling fire alarms needlessly, again for the most part.

FYI Joe Dalek is a serious, credible contributer to these forums and if he says one of his discs is ****ed up smart money says one of his discs is in fact ****ed up.

The color disc labels do look a bit tacky- I think the black and white renditions on the U.S. set make more sense (except of course, for Phantom). I actually think I would have preferred the U.S. cardboard style packaging (in spite of people's claims that the board scratches discs), although I wouldn't have wanted to give up the booklet. IMO, the booklet should have been perfect bound (with a flat spine). It would have fit better into the slipcase that way.

The "15" classification labels on the slipcase don't bother me that much because they're smaller than they had seemed in photographs, but the ones on each disc are bothersome if you care what the discs look like. (Can't believe considering what you see on European TV today that the ratings boards thought that these movies were inappropriate for kids under 15.)
Yeah, the labels on these disc are hideous. They are inconsistant and ugly. You can't open the set and admire their 'beauty' as you dive into the set. Now I know why I usually stick w/ the US version. But I went for price and got a coffin this time, lol.

Take a good look at how phony the photos are..and how is it someone now says their replacement disc is on the way.How do you get amazon to send you one disc out of a set?The poster said he did not contact Universal.

To recap. Some had problems with the Creature, which turned out to be an FW update fix. Others posted phony pictures showing bleed through of print on face of disc..the aluminum bubble is the Phantoms head on the other side. Oh yeah..and a black section of a disc with a red line which means what exactly?Reporting problems/..only one was credible. The rest is BS as I went through and checked each disc for the "reported problems" and found nada as everyone else did except for 1 or 2 'owners" of this set.

So far, YOU sound like the person trying to stir the pot!
Several, reputable people have vouched for this person, and all the others that voiced complaints seemed legit in their message.

Again, I will ask you: Why do you care?
Your discs, as you said, all play just fine. Just let it go. The only person that seems ill intent is afoot, IS YOU!!

If you're so put off by this thread, complain to the Mods.

Again, YOU are the one stirring the pot here.

My coffin arrived a few minutes ago, dent free. The inner box is extremely tight inside the coffin, so I'm just going to store the inner box in a closet and keep the digipak in the coffin, so that it slides in and out easily.

so once again someone is yanking our chains. This happened in the Titanic forum to send owners of the UK version on a wild goose chase. He got a big laugh out of that one and a nice warning to boot.

I doubt also that someone got a set and replaced a disc and that was defective also all in one week from the UK since it takes more than that to get a set delivered.THanks for the BS
I dont think people our lying about the creature disc having problems. Here is my experience, tested on 3 diffrent players. On my oldest player a 3 year old one, it starts to drop out the audio at 21.00 minutes till the end of the film at random parts. On my just bought 2 months ago sony blu player, no problems, as well as my blu ray drive on my pc. I think its just a firmware issue on some older players.

Well, finally saw some movement on my tracking for my coffin set. It updated today and said that my set is in Kansas City, KS. So it's finally moved from NJ and made it to the right state. And, according to the tracking, it said that it arrived there last night. So, hopefully it's already left there and close to Wichita and I'll get it tomorrow. At the very latest, Monday, but since this whole time the tracking has been behind a day or two of what the package is actually doing, I'm really really REALLY hoping it arrives tomorrow. That'd make me a happy camper.

The outer box is pretty flimsy, so mine arrived slightly crushed, though not horribly so. It definitely could/should have been packed better by Amazon UK. I don't have a problem with the plastic trays, nor the rest of the packaging. Haven't seen the US box set yet, but I'm not sure I'd want to pay $50+ more for it...

I've handled the US box set several times. The outer box looks to be of exactly the same construction as the UK set. I wouldn't pay a nickel more for it.

Look at Joe Dalek's photo you can see the lighter coloured spots . There is no "bump" just a discolouration. In playback it pixalates and freezes
