Watched this yesterday. Obviously it looks and sounds great, although it still doesnt compare to seeing it in 3D. The 3D was very well done with this movie, then you go watch the flat version and it's not anywhere near as amazing, but it's still among the best looking blu's out there, only to be topped once 3D becomes more prominent in the near future.

I still dont think the movie itself is all that great. Sam Worthington is such a lame duck actor, he plays the same guy in every movie, Im pretty sure he can actually only speak in 1 tone. He's just so painfully boring and monotonous to listen to. The writing is often very corny, with people saying ridiculous things, and the 2nd half of the movie basically turns into a pretty average action flick, with the standard issue bad guy (complete with scars no less).

Probably in my top 10 favorite blu's, but I can name at least 6 or 7 that I like more than it.

Having the same problem. Have updated the firmware; no change. Have written to Sharp to ask when a new firmware update will be released. Maybe we all should!

'Avatar 2' Details! Where the Sequel will Take Place and More
By: Erik Davis on April 21, 2010 at 1:58PM Comments (15) On the eve of its first (of many) DVD releases, we finally have some concrete information with regards to where James Cameron plans to take his Avatar sequel. Not surprisingly – considering Cameron's love for all things underwater – it appears as if Avatar 2 will concentrate on the oceans of Pandora. In a question about the challenges of his next project, Cameron revealed to the LA Times a little more about the ground (or should I say, water) he'd love to cover in the sequel.

Says Cameron, "Part of my focus in the second film is in creating a different environment – a different setting within Pandora. And I'm going to be focusing on the ocean on Pandora, which will be equally rich and diverse and crazy and imaginative, but it just won't be a rain forest. I'm not saying we won't see what we've already seen; we'll see more of that as well."

Based on those statements, it would appear as if Cameron wants to remain on Pandora instead of venturing out to other planets or moons. In some earlier quotes, it was suggested that Avatar 2 would visit new worlds. Has that changed, or has it just expanded to include oceans? We don't know…yet.

Good news, though, for people who want to experience Avatar in 3D on the big screen again: James Cameron also revealed that they're finishing up six minutes of additional footage that will be added to Avatar for a re-release this August. Obviously the film will have been out on DVD for awhile, but the opportunity to watch six extra never-before-seen minutes, as well as to experience the film in 3D once more, may be too enticing to turn down.

Will you see Avatar when it's re-released in August? And what do you think about Avatar 2 focusing on the oceans of Pandora?

Maybe the Gungans can make a cameo appearance in the Pandoran oceans.

Watched the movie last night. Had a great cast of people, lot's of well known actors/actresses. The movie itself was good, no issues there at all. Made sense. I did have trouble with some of the dialogue used. Mainly, the profanity. It's as if they put it in there just for the sake of having it. Really out of place in most parts. There were only a couple of scenes where it actually "fit".

It was upsetting to see what was taking place. Even though it was only a movie, it really pissed me off. The greed of the human race is just astounding. Thinking we can take whatever we want without cause or consequence. It was just wrong on so many levels.

What people don't realize is, it's happening right now at home. It's not propaganda or some BS greenwash. It's true, go read and research for yourself. These movies are not far off when it comes to us having a shit home someday.

Yeah it wasnt just the cursing. Lines like, "I'm going to kick his corporate butt" were really cringe worthy for me. There's a ton of cheap lines like that in this movie.

I think he forgot that he's not playing a robot anymore.

Yup. Some lines were just really cheesy or out of place.

Drinking a glass of water upside down is supposed to help the hiccups. Try it!

I guess some people like him, but he just comes across as very emotionless, he seems like a guy that's trying to act, and im never sold on him in the 3 movies ive seen him in so far.

He's kind of like Christian Bale, popping up in every big movie now, except that I think Bale is a much better actor. I have no clue why this Worthington guy is getting these high profile roles. I cant act at all but im pretty sure I can pull off what he's doing in these movies which is basically just reading a script.

Very good movie... I really enjoyed it. Something I found interesting was the voice actors... they sounded like mostly Native American and African American... So I went online and it's exactly what I thought. Although the braided hair, and other culture stuff was a dead give away.

Zoe Solanda was very good in this movie. She brought the character to life, while the other actors sounded like they were in a voice recording studio.

My audio went crazy too for a couple seconds at the scene when the girl rides that bird for the first time (didn't take note of the time sorry), also the disk took forever to load, on a Samsung BD-P4600 with latest firmware

I must say that I am rather floored by comments like the above. Since when did watching a movie become about how great the video quality was. I personally did enjoy the film in the theater and yesterday at home but I will in no way say the movie is groundbreaking. Yeah it looks amazing but the story is total blockbuster simpleness. Oddly I watched Avatar in the afternoon and a movie called Trick or Treats on VHS last night (not the Marc Price movie with Ozzy in it) because I haven't seen it since high school and it is not available on DVD or BD. For me it's about the movie not the picture quality even though I love BD.

For me this line was pretty funny and remembered me of ripley in alien films
typical Weaver scene.

There are tons of identical lines in other movies. And they often reviewed as cool/funny in those movies.

I don't get this avatar bashing. Seems like every movie thats doing so great gets this kind of threatment....

After thinking about this, it reminded me of when True Lies was in the theatre, and how alot of muslims complained about the terrorist being muslims. Coincidentally, that was also a James Cameron film. Anyway, my opinion is yes, there are undertones, but not intentionally by the film makers. Also, remember how people were saying how WALL-E was making fun of fat people? Maybe it did, sure I can see that, but that wasn't the message. No, Avatar and WALL-E share the same message about our planet. I can see it now, in the year 2050, there will be androids among our population, claiming, James Cameron's Terminator films are racial and depict androids in a negative way.
I believe that you are right, but i also agree that i don't think it was intentional. But who cares for real, Im Black and i don't get offended by any movie except "Rose Wood" That movie fuked me up But i came to terms that its the pass, we live for today. Every movie has messages that you need to read in between the lines but why are you searching for things like that. I see movies as either A: Entertainment (taking our minds off of troubled issues) B: Historical Knowledge.

People are always gonna think differently that was make us, us! Just live with it and learn. If everything was peachy the good things would stand out.

picked up my Blu-ray Disc and last night put it up on the 106" screen/JVC RS2.

It looks very good. But I have to say that after watching it 3 times in the theater... each time in 3D... seeing it in 2D was a bit of a let down. I was shocked at how so much of the "magic of being there on Pandora" seemed to evaporate away without the realism of the 3D depth.

Hopefully JVC will come out with a kick-*ss 3D projector before the year's end... and hopefully AVATAR will show up on 3D blu-ray before the year's end as well.

I agree the 3-D experience makes it feel a lot different then viewing it at home in 2-D
