I rewatched JP1 over the weekend and I don't understand what all the griping is about. It looked great! Could it have been better? I dunno...maybe! But it completely blows away the bluray. I still love my 3D version as well though.

Definitely better than the blu-ray but IMHO, still one of the biggest UHD disappointments of last year. JP1 deserved much better.

Well, like I said, could it have been better? I suppose so but it certainly does not look "bad".

Ehh, I would say it looks borderline bad. It certainly doesn’t look good.

I don't think we'll ever get another transfer.

I think we will. It’s one of the biggest titles in the world and there’s not gonna be any shortage of tie-in opportunities in the foreseeable future. It still has milking potential.

Other than the first look at the Brachiosaurus, I thought the entire movie looked fantastic. That scene has always looked iffy, but the UHD really made that CGI look even worse.

Agreed. That scene doesn't look great.

It's crazy how UHD can look so different from set-up to set-up because in no way would I say JP1 looks anywhere near bad. There are just so many variables involved in everyone's viewing equipment that PQ and AQ reviews are practically worthless. You just have to see it for yourself.

Julianne Moore's character deserves to die a horrible, horrible death. I yearn for it to happen, but alas, i'm not that lucky. She's stroking a wild baby stegosaurus and then one minute later starts lecturing people about not interfering, minimal contact, fragile ecosystem, blah, blah blah. You're the absolute worst, lady!!
Dude, I'm enjoying Lost World more and more every time I see it.

It has a strong setup, with an uneven middle (there's more good than bad), and then that third act kills it for me. I still cringe during that whole final mess.

We never got another transfer on regular Blu-Ray, so I don't know...

I could see it being remastered again someday IF the elements weren't the problem with this one. However will that someday remaster be on a 4k UHD disc? Who knows.

I never found Lost World to be bad at all like some here seem to. I still enjoy the hell out of the movie itself and the transfer is so good I really enjoy it on UHD and can see that appreciation growing in subsequent viewings! In fact..
[Show spoiler]it's probably more rewatchable for me than the first because with that one my view count got ridiculously inflated by a 3 month period of daily viewings in 2000 (VHS)

As to JP being remastered? It's for me a lock to get a 30th anniversary re-release in theatres and UHD.
[Show spoiler]And with that you'd imagine they redo the 4K scan (if the previous was an IP), involve SS, and hopefully touch up (tastefully) or frame for frame re-create the CGI in the spirit of and to honour the pioneering work. Focusing on texturing to match more seamlessly to the animatronic shots.

Lost World has two things in it I hate, the gymnastics scene and Vince Vaughn. Also the T-Rex boat plot hole with the dead people bugs me (and yes I know about the deleted explanation). Those things aside though I think it's a great little adventure movie with dinos and I very much enjoy it.

That said I also like all the sequels to some degree, so I think I'm just really into the concept. Like a lot of things I think people less "into it" tend to pick it apart more.

I love Jurassic Park and don't really like any of the direct sequels. I feel like you could dump the second and third films and skip to Jurassic World, without losing much.

This is crazy talk to me. TLW and III are a billion times better than JW (which I will never watch again as long as I live).

The Lost World is the only JP film I like enough to own.

It should, however, have ended with Ingen about to take the captured dinos back to the US.

Part 3 should have continued from that point...

JW is legitimately one of the five or ten worst movies I’ve ever seen, so yeah.

The Lost World is pretty great, borderline excellent until they suddenly get off the island easily as an excuse to have Rexy go Godzilla in SanFran. I've felt this way since I saw it at the theater, TWICE I might add, at age 7.
