I loved Saldana's performance as Neytiri and Lange's performance as the Colonel, I even thought Worthington was solid as Jake Sully. Greatest movie ever? Definitely not, it does make my personal top 10 but that's just my own top 10.

that logic doesn't quite work for saying Avatar is the best movie ever or anything close to resembling that. especially when on this site alone you see people writing, "the movie is okay, but the PQ and AQ are reference quality so that's why i bought it". just because they buy something doesn't make it the best ever.
How many Big Macs and KFC are consumed daily? People like junk food and Avatar. Simple.

I think the girl that played Neytiri did a nice job, as did the guy that played papa dragon, although a little over the top at times of course, but he played the part just fine.

Worthington was worthless as usual, just a dead duck with no emotion and pretty much no personality or anything memorable about him at all. Luckiest guy in hollywood.

Also, I dont see why people are jumping over the reviewer for his opinion.

Some people liked it less than others, thats just a fact.

If you want to see good reviews, look at the User review page where it is filled with tons of 5 star reviews for the movie already.

The reason, IMO, that the movie is so loved by many, is that it strikes an emotional chord with them. If the movie doesn't strike that emotional chord, then obviously they won't like it as much.

For me, what makes a movie isn't story. Its feeling. The feelings and emotions that a movies leaves you with. And for me the movie delivered wholesale, as well as for millions of others.

The LOTR thread determined that screenshots are meaningless.

Oh! So THAT's what's making my cousin's Sony HDTV look so bad. I notice he had MotionFlow turned on and the picture was downright ugly. I'll see if he'll let me fix that for him the next time I come over. Yuck!

I thought Worthington did a fine job. I dont know where you get that he didnt display any emotion. He displayed plenty imo, which is why I liked him.

I think all the actors did a great job in the movie, with maybe Joel Moore being the only subpar one. Obviously Zoe Saldana is the standout.

Ive seen Sam Worthless in 3 movies, I cant say he's a whole lot better than Channing Tatum. They both pretty much suck and I dont want to see either in anymore movies.

How is it this guy got into a movie like Avatar? I dont get it.

IDK, Worthington hasn't been given anything to prove that he is terrible.

Channing Tatum has removed all doubt. Not a bad dancer though

Best role Channing Tatum did was in Public Enemies...lasted only maybe 3 minutes and was shot to death by Christian Bale...barely said a word

IMO if the special effects were of lesser quality, the movie would not have been as successful as it was because the audience wouldn't have been able to get past the discrepancy in the visuals they were experiencing. Suspension of disbelief is huge for this film, since the vast majority is computer generated, but is being sold as live-action. Avatar isn't Who Framed Roger Rabbitt or Space Jam, we are supposed to believe that these creatures are interacting with humans.
For me, it was suspension of memory that was required. And I couldnt do it. I had seen this story/movie at least 3 times before I saw Avatar.

Not "similar", but the EXACT same story. I just couldnt shake that in the theater.

Channing Tatum was monotone that whole movie; It was like watching a robot act.
