Default Speaker Wire Quality

Howdy everyone.
I will soon be getting one of the new Denon receivers along with the Paradigm Cinema CT 110 speaker package. I was just curious of what sort of speaker wires I should be getting. I did noticed some stores had a Monster brand but im worried the wires might be as much as a rip off as their HDMI cables.
The wires will not be travelling very far. It's a pretty average sized room, probably smaller rather than larger. Any thoughts on what I should be looking to get?

(Also, am I the only one who feels paying more than $50 for a pair of speaker stands is brutal? Most of these seem to run 100-300. It anyone knows of any that will support the 110 fronts for very cheap please let me know)

before you buy anything, check out monoprice.com

I've ordered 12 awg. speaker wire, banana clips, 6' and a 50' hdmi cable from them and I'm 100% satisfied.

I use ~15% of my audio budget for "cables". That includes speaker wire and necessary interconnects. Super-upgrading one component or link in the chain will net you very little a performance increase.

What did your A/V supplier recommend?

For stands check the following sites.

www.racksandstands.com

www.standsandmounts.com

And as everyone already said, go with cheaper speaker wire, about 14 gauge should be fine.

Yeah, those don't include combo packs like Star Trek (x6), Dirty Harry (x5), Matrix (x3), Bond, Batman, etc.

I'd check with your speaker manufacturer or the authorized reseller and see what they recommend for quality. I'm a snob and a bad reference for what the normal consumer should do but I do ask the advice of true professionals.

Cool

Go to Home Depot and get 12 - 16 AWG wire. Monster is too pricey for running speaker wire.

We use a thicker (i.e. smaller AWG) wire to let more current drive our speakers.

I could use 16awg, but the little stuff just rubs me the wrong way, I like the nice thick 12awg- and I want to use the same cables when I bump up the system to separate amps...

If I use the 12 awg from home depo will this give me a lesser quality in audio than if I used to Monster brand?

I would say pay close attention to the ends of your wire- how they interface with your system. Wire from the home supply stores should be fine but putting in some banana clips will make install easier (again, I recommend monoprice.com- remember 4 clips per speaker) And needless to say, match up the positives and negatives, or the marked sides of your wire.

Monster Brand wire may give you a slightly better placebo effect

For a higher shelf wire, you could check out bluejeancable.com

I really think you should go for this one:

I am a Monoprice 12Awg cable kind a guy myself!

P.S. - does anyone else think $7000 for speaker cables as ludicrous as Bigfoot existing? Actually, comparing these cables to Bigfoot is an insult to Bigfoot!

The one thing nice about speaker wire from Monster is that it is very flexible and lays down on the floor nicely. A lot of speaker wire out there can be a pain and is very stiff. Plus if you look around there are many deals to be had on Monster wire and cables, just got to look. However most of their cables are quite inexpensive compared to what's out there and is available everywhere, so it makes it convenient.

Anyhow, depends on what you want out of your cables so buy what serves your interests best. My personal choice would be Canare Starquad 4S11 from Blue Jeans Cable. Basically it's about a buck per foot and is of very good quality and is also nice and flexible.
