Default My HDMI wire quality?

Hey guys, I've owned my Sony Bravia KDL-V32XBR2 for the past 2 years now, and I thought the quality of the picture was fine when it came to Blu-ray's until I got Transformers... Now hear me out, I know the reviews are all 5/5 and one of my friends owns it as well and says its flawless. But when I watch it on my setup all the blacks are, well, not BLACK. They've got a hint of blue in them, and very grainy. But when it comes to games, obviously the picture is flawless. I'm really hoping it's not my TV.

I was thinking, can the problem be my HDMI wire? When I bought my PlayStation back in Dec of '06 I also bought a Monster HDMI 300 wire for $99, yeah not cheap. My theory is that maybe my wire is out dated. Now I know I can just borrow my friends wire and check it out, but It'll take a few days 'til he comes over and we can try it. Can anybody here give me any suggestions please, I'd really appreciate it.
