It says "the way it's described here" as a possibility or "something wrong with their stock" if I was a betting man I would bet it's because it lists on Amazon and on the box 161 minutes which is the theatrical cut when in reality it is the directors cut and runs at 178 minutes and makes no reference to this on the box, and people are probably complaining thinking Amazon has the wrong covers it's stupid...if you look at the reviews people are commenting on that issue...

Technically, it's even lower than 16mm, so even if some people could, with time and money, make a new transfert look fine, there's not any chance it will ever look like Fast & Furious Tokyo Drift on Blu-Ray
But if you compared it to the Italian restoration of Fistful of Dollars, also shot in Techniscope, FoD looks way better than TGTBATU does on Blu-Ray.

I think the movie looks very good...who cares if there's a little dirt here and there the movie looks very good for a 40 year old plus movie...

jeez man, why do you constantly shut down anyone who likes a movie even if it is technically flawed? if people are pleased with their purchases who are you to tell them they shouldn't be?

Got mine, it looks great. My last copy was the first DVD release, not the 2-disc edition. Wow what AQ and PQ improvements, and a great price. I hate double dipping but this is one of my top ten favorite movies.

The only problem I see with the disc is the eco-case. Maybe too many people are complaining that the disc may, or may not, be scratched and they have sent them back.

As ranking member of the DNR Police, I'll say that TGTBTU is not anywhere near as scrubbed as Patton, and actually has a pretty good preservation of the grain structure for most of the picture, particularly indoor scenes.

Everything after the initial arrival at the graveyard looks great.

Am I the only person bothered by the sound remixing on GBU? I was bugged by it on the SE DVD, and it's still there on the BR. They added lame-sounding gun-shot sound effects that totally muffle the original unique Leone sounds. I wouldn't care if they included the original English mono, but for some reason they didn't.

If you want to hear what I mean, watch the scene with Tuco in the bathtub with the English 5.1 or 2.0 sound, then watch it again with the Italian Mono. Instead of the iconic original gun-shot sounds of the Leone I love, you hear "boosh" just like you do on straight-to-video action movies.

The picture quality wasn't terrible, but compared with the Italian release, doesn't look as good. It's crisper but no more detailed than the SE DVD.

I thought the transfer was really good on this one..the movie will never look as sharp as a 2009 movie and never as good as a movie of higher quality from the same era (the connery james bonds) but it looks great for what it is

I'm sure as time goes on we may get another release with a different and possibly better transfer (i'm sure MGM will want to cash in when there is an eventual Remake starring the Jonas Brothers, lol), but right now i'm happy with my purchase
