did anybody get to try out the sony one during e3? i havent seen any news that the press got to play around with it.
lots of people got to play around with natal....but they were not allowed to film it and they had the "air steering wheel" working in burnout paradise, a real full on already in stores game. Last edited by SpoonMaN; 06-10-2009 at 08:53 PM. |

I was not impressed, like I said in the E3 thread, I don't know if it was because of the presentation or the tech/device, but the girl playing with the ball had to do ridiculously exaggerated motions compared to the character (the motion of the painter was equally ridiculous).
Out of the three obviously Wii already has motion so there was less to show (and people know how well it works) but I found Sony's presentation way more interesting. The archer in Sony looked much better (compared to Wii) the painter in Sony (actual painting and some splattering) looked much better then MS (where the guy was just splashing paint by bending up and down). In the end I think Wii+ will be here soon while Sony's and MS was more of a "look we will eventually have motion so please stick with us" then anything else. |

I dont see how you could call it a wii killer? more like copier?
But then again i would want to copy something that destroyed me in sales too. If you look at over all sales...check nintendo ds & nintendo wii and compare them to xbox 360. ps3. and psp. all systems have there good and bad. I just think nintendo had better ideas marketing and money wise. They went with a cheaper console, no hd, not even a dvd player and still sold more units and make profits. If you check sony doesnt even profit off the sale of a ps3..it actually costs more to make one than what they sell one for and people still think there price is too high...i dont even talk about xbox...i would be ashamed from all the returns and defective hardware they had this time around.....In my eyes ps3 is the best system for quality all around but not for cost in this economy. xbox 360 to me has been dated...hd dvd failed..the consoles hardware fails and ps3's online (not before but now)is almost the same in my opinon. I like the wii just for the simple fact that they didnt try to copy the other systems...they did it the way they wanted to and still blew away the competition & even made a nice profit off of there sales. The other systems will need to make miis...motion sensing controllers..then try to make a wii fit and wii bowling and hope they can make up for all the money lost... |

I agree with BirdmanJR.
I mean how can you call it a Wii killer when your system is down how many 10's of millions of consoles to the Wii? Will people pick up the mythical Project Natal instead of a Wii? Doubtful. As with most technological things with Microsoft, I'll believe it when I see it. And only then, I'll believe it after it works for 6 months and doesn't overheat or explode. Logan |

The archer was cool, but the painting wasn't that amazing. The runs in the spray paint seemed to be a repeated pattern, and when he "threw" paint at the screen, they were just the same exact blotches over and over.

I am not interested in painting, and if I used it for gaming, showing precise control is interesting. |

![]() I'm assuming you've never thrown paint at a wall if you think it just splats into circles like that. |

if I am driving and I turn the wheel 5 degrees I want the device to register that, I don't want it to register 90 or nothing at all. if I am trying to shoot someone and it is not on target by a bit I don't want to have to move my arm as if the guy is beside me nor do I want the opposite (small movement from me = big movement on screen) if I am using a sword I want the game to mimic my moves that is what I was looking to see in the presentations I used the paint example because both used painting to show what can be done (and I considered them good representations of the rest of the performances). The guy painting on the PS3 showed accuracy and finesse on the other hand on the 360 it showed the opposite, but the same was true for the rest of the presentations, look at the girl playing with the ball, big character big ball, small room and she moved like crazy while the character barely moved. On the other hand on the PS3 the guys movement and character movement looked more in synch. Like I said in my previous post, maybe this was a setting to make it more visible on screen (after all MS wanted to show your whole body is the controller)but until they show how it can make gamming better I am not interested |

I don't think its going to catch on unless it's going to be bundled with the console/future console.
I don't mind the idea, but I think for most applications, I'd rather be able to hold something (like a Wiimote), for example sword fighting would be more rewarding if I was holding the controller rather than swinging my hands around in the air. I suppose they could just let it recognise an item your holding though. Just wasn't keen on the air steering wheel :P . Still pretty cool if it ends up becoming adopted properly by developers and consumers alike, but I'm not busting to get one. |

My issue is with the fact that on stage, during the live demo, there was an "easy" background (easy for the technology), no clutter, and good lighting.
I still need proof that Natal works as promised in a typical home, with a cluttered background, people walking around, pets, etc. If it does I am so there, as a toy if nothing else. But I have serious doubts. |

I undestand some peoples arguments of "the wii already out selling the xbox and ps3" but I think you have to look at the future for Nintendo and the Wii. If what Sony and M$ are trying to do is successfull, than what future would the Wii have in the market for 2012 when supposedly the new systems will come out????
I think Nintendo isn't scared right now, but in 2-3 year they should be. |

I've heard {and take this with a grain of salt} that Nintendo's next system will be out in 2011. Just did a google search for "Wii 2011" and this is the first one that came up. http://nintendo.joystiq.com/2008/10/...ssor-for-2011/ Plus Nintendo isn't scared right now because they have absolutely no reason to be, they've won this generation. It shouldn't even be in dispute at this point. Logan |
