It is generalization, yes. Some people will obviously like it. People liked Borat as well. I dont know why but yes.

LOL. I didn't like Borat at first either. Watched again this weekend, though, and found myself howling at some parts. Come on, the lyrics to his national anthem are hilarious. And the part with the old southern innkeepers who are Jewish? Borat's facial expressions are laughworthy.

For me, it had some shining moments. (The fraternity kids from South Carolina are not among them. Guess they sued to stop release of the DVD, and/or to remove their scenes from the DVD.: http://www.usatoday.com/life/movies/...-lawsuit_x.htm. They lost.)

You're always going to have some group of 'victims' complaining about one thing or another. How else can they further their causes in order to get special treatment?

Borat was freakin' hilarious, and Bruno looks to be the same. The trailers I've seen crack me up, and they've all been PG. I won't pay to go see this at the theater, but I will rent/buy it when it comes to BD.

I have no interest in seing this movie, saw Boring oh sorry Borat and well I just don't see what people find funny with this guy but good for them if they do.

When I want to see a funny movie, I pull out one of Mel Brook's movies and have a good time

I think people in the Gay and non-Gay community who are offended at this - aren't getting the point of his character, Bruno.

Bruno is not an example of a gay person - it is an EXTREME stereo-type meant to elicit reactions from intolerant people. It is a personification of everything homophobic people fear and despise, which in turn, brings out their worst side - all for the entertainment of the viewer.

It's up to you to decide if that's entertaining to you.

But to me, Bruno is not meant to be a representation of the common gay community.

Excellent point. If it's like Borat, the movie will really just show how ridiculous OTHER people are for their biases/prejudices/etc.

If any LGBTs are offended by the Bruno character, then they have surely missed the irony in that the character looks to have been pulled straight out of a LGBT pride rally/parade.

In my opinion there is nothing offensive in it. The movie much like Borat is using a very stereotypical laden character to ferret out the true feelings of people whom Cohen interviews. In my opinion it is not offensive it is genius. Cohen did the same thing in Borat by playing his acted opinions on Jews and various other races out to people who in normal conversation would never admit to being a bit prejudiced or racist. And lastly it is a comedic movie, you have to go in light and expect some uncomfotable moments.

Not only that, but he is certainly NOT the first one to do so. It's just a matter of thinking if he is funny or not. I personally think he isn't but taking stereotypes to the extreme certainly makes us aware just how ridiculous we can get.

I'm gonna comment on this before the mods close the thread.
I don't get offended easily (like most of you). No dis-respect but, I think you kids today are too PC and have forgotten how to have fun. Sacha is an artist and an entertainer. I personally think he's a comedic genius and probably the only guy, right now, that can make me laugh till I fall off my seat. I worked at Disney for many years and have made many "rainbow" friends. And the funny part in all this is that they can't wait to see it. I'm looking forward to this myself.

I don't think it will get closed down - everyone seems to be giving honest opinions, not taking anything personal, and having polite conversation.

Everyone is staying on the topic of the movie - I don't see any problems here.

Other than ones (or a group, race, religeon) suffering, I believe everything is fair game. Everything. If we cant laugh at ourselves, whats the point.

I dont understand why the gay community would be offended by Bruno, because the character is so intentionally over the top, hes just silly.

Besides, the point isn't that the character is gay, but how society reacts to his character.

What I find offensive is that people actually go to pay money to watch this!!!

I personally don't get offended by this type of stuff, I think it is just stupid and silly. You know going in, what this is about - so how could you be offended if you know that that is exactly what this is about??? I say don't watch this, don't let you teenage kids watch this, don't let your friends watch this and hopefully stuff like this will go away!
