Default Bruno's surprising controversy.

hey guys,

so, Sacha Baron Cohen was successful again in alienating people who saw his next project which is Coming soon to be released Bruno.

This time around it was the Gay Communities. What are your thoughts about this. Should we accept what he is doing? Should we be offended? or is this nothing but a form of entertainment that we should welcome with open arms?.

My only problem with the movies is how much the trailer gave away for both Borat and looking the same for Bruno. That OJ line is pretty played out now, unfortunately cause it was hilarious at first. His antics haven't offended any of my personal beliefs or anything so, I don't mind that he keeps doing his thing.

I agree with you. My problem with sacha is that he does pull offensive moves. such as what he did in Borat when he sang the US national anthem. That was I considered offensive.

I will never see this movie.

The random previews have wasted roughly 8min 42sec. of my life already.

I think it's just "entertainment." Whether I'm entertained by it or not is another question.

But today, no matter what you do, someone gets offended. Not saying it's unwarranted -- maybe the gay community has every right to be offended. Just saying it's par for the course.

I would rather watch CSPAN

I believe I've been quite clear on this.

I would watch it. The more I hear about people getting offended by a movie or whatever, it makes me want to see it that much more just to find out what all the hub-bub is about.

Yup, that too. Don't want to get off topic too much to other sources, but I've noticed as of late in certain TV shows or movies that there's almost an intent to just say the most shocking thing possible without actually being clever about it.

Like any group, they can choose not to go to the movie and let the free market determine the outcome. My community gets laughed at and mocked all the time and I don't see anyone coming to my rescue.

GLAAD is one of the organizations in the gay community to raise concerns (www.glaad.org) and hey, that's their job and it's the right thing for them to do. Most of us, whether part of the "community" or not, don't have a problem with it. For example, the NAACP had issues with Blazing Saddles - and rightly so - as it's their job. IMO the morons who rejoice in the gay-bashing of Bruno are like those who enjoy the racism in Blazing Saddles for all the wrong reasons.

I'm nothing like Bruno but even in the trailer I'm laughing at aspects of his character that I can see in myself. I love caricatures - and I like to see the morons put in their place. Like a Michael Moore film it'll be preaching to the converted - but isn't that just like any other movie?

true. comedy should be the way you described. if anyone has a problem with what they see as a portrayal depecting them then they should take it as humor. if thats not the case then people should forget about humor in general, standup comedy, Mad TV, Saturday Night live, and even dogma. after all I heavily believe that god has a sense of HUMOR.

Loved Borat, will probably like this.

Don't care if anyone is offended, seriously if you're offended in the world we live in I suggest you stay in the house and keep the door shut, windows down etc. Because it's everywhere. To me one really only gets offended when one takes something, be it themselves or a particular issue too seriously.

How can you NOT laugh at Borat trashing the national anthem? The looks on those peoples faces was priceless!

Again I don't pay attention to what people in the news are offended by as usually the words "I am offended by" or "that offends me" are followed by me changing the channel or tuning out the prudes who are saying it, get a sense of humor people.

People are making way too big of a deal about this. It's supposed to be entertainment, not bashing. I'm with SonOfArathorn. I will probably find the movie, Bruno, hilarious.

For me, you gotta be able to make fun of yourself. There is a funny side to everything and frankly, we are all a part of something that will be made fun of eventually so we all have to ride that train at some point whether we are a certain ethnic group, special interest, mayority, minority etc...

My problem with this guy is that he just isn't funny imo. I hate Borat. Found it boring and soo not funny. Again, not because it offends anyone in particular but just because he is NOT funny at all.

So if any gay group or groups are offended I would tell them not to worry. No one is gonna enjoy thid film anyway.
