Thanks for all your help guys. So I've finally decided to get the SVS. From reading numerous posts, I've got the impression that the Rythmik is a great sub for listening to music since its tight and accurate. But since my use will be 90% movies and 10% music, I think I'll be better off with the SVS. I'll be ordering it tomorrow. Also, I just ordered the Pioneer KRP-500M from eBay. Not bad for $1700 final price including stand . Pics will be posted as soon as I get it... stay tuned!

Thanks. I had one question though...I was looking at the 'SPL vs Freq' chart between the PC-12 Plus and the PC-12 NSD, and I noticed that the NSD plays at a louder volume (~92 db). I'm a little confused because I thought the plus was the higher end model, but it plays quieter ?? How do you like your NSD??

I can't explain the 92 db's playing level, which is interesting (insert Big Daddy comment here )....... I can speak for my PC12-NSD, and it performs flawlessly. I had my SC-05 at -10db's for Watchmen, and it felt like I was just taking it out for a jog. I could have pumped it at lower db's and I think I still would have plenty of headroom with that thing. Performance is ridiculous! The movie was so-so, but so far I have not found a blu that can truly push the SVS to anything close to it bottoming out. It seems to bebottomless to me. I have never noticed any distortion or port noise, not even remotely. I just don't think you could go wrong with an SVS sub.......it just depends on your wallet!

The primary reason for me upgrading to a new sub is because of bottoming-out issues with my current sub. So its nice to know there is no issues regarding that with your NSD. I'd still like to get some input from other members regarding the SPL vs Freq chart. I just called SVS to ask them about the difference, but they are closed today. Maybe I'll ask them tomorrow before placing the order. If I can save $400 and get louder bass, then why not!!

I would e-mail them, they usually will get back to you within 4 hrs or so....plus it is nice to start some kind of correspondence if you have further questions once you get your SVS sub!

I to wondered about this when I was trying to decide on a sub. The chart looked better for the NSD and I figured what I would pay for one Plus I could get dual NSD's for not much more money.

I also would take a look at the SVS 16-46 Plus its a bit cheaper than the new Plus and its graph looks really good. I didn't know about this model until I already had my NSD or I would have seriously considered it.

My PC-12 NSD digs down to 15Hz before it starts falling. You can't go wrong with it, I've pushed it to reference level and it just laughed at me. No port noise, just some room rattles I had to take care of. Forsberg is right, these things are ridiculous!

You're right...the 16-46 plus looks good in chart. What do think about the 20-39 plus? It has very linear response at around 90db. I wonder which is newer?

edit: looks like the 16-46 plus is the better one:

Suggestion,

Not sure if this is your cup of tea, but you could get this for around your budget from this place. I have this exact model, and for home theater it kills !!! Believe me it can be perfectly subtle and it can also put out some crazy low end. If you don't like the finish it comes in others that should be in your budget.

If your willing, I bet you can get it to your house within your budget.

I'm sure thats one great sub, but its a little over my budget. $1200 for a used sub is a little more than I'd like to spend.

Gotcha !!! But it is barely used. Also that gut only deals in uber high-end audio so I bet it is well cared for. I'm sure he would be willing to work something out on price or including delivery. Just a thought .

Trust me I would snag that up in a minute if I needed a home theater subwoofer because of it's capabilities. It would be like adopting Lebron James
