yes i agree, the sound is definetly off on the smallvill, have only watched fringe on hd cable but your right it could be better.

I haven't seen it on Blu, but it's amazingly well-mixed for broadcast television. They actually use the surrounds and mix very well. I look forward to the music in each episode as much as the story!

Well Dolby Digital is the original sound as heard on the HD broadcast, so I guess WB don't think it needs to be upgraded the TrueHD. I for one really don't mind or care. All sounds the same to me.

The fact that it has only DD doesn't ruin the show whatsoever. I am aware of the problems you had with the sound, but it sounds fine and it still has great PQ and the show itself is a great first season. It's still worth the price whether it has HD audio or not. It's time to get over it and just enjoy what's there.

it seems the EU UK disc is also only in 5.1 dolby Digital.... actually its idendical to the US discs...

so this means the French discs is completely different dics made for the French market...

Hey mate, you should've received it by now. Can you provide confirmation?

The current price at Amazon.com, after a $20 drop, is very tempting, but I'll hold off if a better option is out there.

DVDFr is not the only website that mentions a lossless track, by the way. Ecranlarge does, too! And they're reliable, right? I know they provide the best large cover art.

I thought a show like this would get the proper treatment, I guess not.

From looking at the review it does indeed seem that this is DD only.

I watched the first four or five episodes and finally figured out that this show is no better than an episode of CSI, so this show is not for me anyway.

It sounds fine, remember, this series is story & character driven; kinda like the X-Files. There are few instances of the need for specialized audio and i think that the DD does fine covering them. do i wish it had lossless for the sake of having the full "blu-ray treatment", yes i do but as I said before, the lossy sound is fine. Olivia's gun sounds fine when firing it. explosions sound fine when they occur, car chases are good, would they sound better with lossless, maybe, but it doesn't sound bad. i would be on the side of folks who are gripping about the lack of lossless audio if the lossy audio sounded bad or say somehow worse than the DVD audio, other than that, it sounds fine. Having said that, i hope that next season is lossless so this thread won't occur for it!
