Buying BD's is good for the economy and stops you from spending... say $500+ a month on weed....

think about that one...

A good friend dropped the membership with Netflix like a hot rock after raising the prices. At the beginning, Netflix was the way to go, but after they 'gotcha' on the hook, they raised the price. I knew they would do that. Good deals never last long. The people running Netflix are some slick SOBs!

Doesnt make any sense to me. Netflix still only costs me like $25/month with BDs, that's how much a single BD costs. They could charge me $50/mo and it would still be worth it.

Dang, $25 bucks? No way would I pay that much unless I had a jones for the title. I typcially pay about 10 to 15 bucks for the blu rays I buy. Lately, the blus have been dropping to about $8 bucks (not including shipping though). But still, you're buying and not renting...

Ive never seen a BD I cared about for under $15. But even if they were $8, I could only buy 3 for the price im paying for netflix. I usually netflix like 8+ per month, that would be $64 for you, and $25 for me. But considering most of the ones I buy are $15-25, 8 movies would cost me $120.

Netflix pretty much rules when I think about how much money ive saved with it.

Im paying 21 for the 3 at a time. its not too bad but I could never justify going higher... after winter i will go down to 1 or 2 as I have time to do other things.

during the winter I get MAX value out of this... I have 1 day turnaround usually as do they... one month last year I got like 24 movies for $17.25 that month (was on DVD 3 at a time)... plus add in I can stream A LOT of movies or TV shows now... even better value.

I got admitt im the sameway, i go to best buy every tuesday and pick up about 2 or 3 new releases in addition to checking which ones are on sale etc. And then my ebay addiction, id say i buy around 10ish blues a week.

However I always check prices online and get Best Buy to match Walmarts online pricing, saves acouple dollars.

I havent actually bought a BD in 2 months and in 2 years being on board I own around 40. I use netflix a lot.
Nah man don't worry bout that I don't spend $100-150 a week in nightclubs like most of my friends.. Besides minimum wage is much higher here so no worries

Also - what the hell would I be spending them on iif not entertainment?

I was a dvd shopaholic for quite a while, then I realized that media (cd's, dvd's, video games, ect..) never retain anything even remotely close to their retail value. Then I stopped buying media altogether, except for vinyl, and anyone who likes vinyl understands why.

Then the format war hit and I became almost completely dis-interested and was a movie "renter" instead of "collector" After bd won the format war I became interested again and started really checking it out. I bought a bd player and rented TKD so I could a/b it with my dvd copy and I was blown away!!!

Then I went through two more bd players (bought and returned them within a couple of days as I was not fully satisfied with their build quality and reliability) and finally bought a "fat" ps3. This one was the winner. It had seemingly endless reviews praising it and there are less compatibility issues with discs. When I got it home and was hooking it up I quickly realized that this was a top notch peice of gear. It had heft to it and nothing stood out as easily breakable or flimsy.

It was also about this time I discovered this site and began lurking around. Now I am a full fledged movie "collector" again. I am back to rarely renting and blind buying movies again. With bd I feel like it is the next best thing to having an actual film copy of the movie on hand. It's a good time to be a movie junkie.

Default Blu movies...

My BD obsession grew rapidly in a span of two years... This place has been a boon with regards to sales and info. I intend to get all my favorites on Blu but it will be sparingly. The recent Black Friday activity has been a flurry for me. I now have an idea of how to strategize for the next one.

I think my own personal allure with renting is that I get to see titles I'm interested in seeing without the risk of buying them and having a bad blind buy. I Netflix everything I want to see, and then if I like it, I buy it afterwards at a reasonable price point depending on the movie. I can see movies I want to see, but I can give them right back if I don't like them. Saves me money and the risk of a bad blind buy. I used to just buy blindly before, but after a few missteps, I took to renting first, then buying.

Nice !

I stumble across this site years ago and it has cost me a S#@! load of money. The way I look at it is, if I go to the theaters it's at least 10 bucks and if I rent it's another couple of bucks ( before REDBOX ) and at the time no one was renting blus so why not buy.
