this movie should look and sound amazing on blu
tom cruise is a amazing actor and i like all of his movies
this movie has its ups and downs, like the really slow part with tim robbins, but all and all its a great flick, but i do gota say i didnt like it when i saw it in theatres, but got on dvd and liked it, its weird but i felt that way about alot of movies in the past
cant wait for this to hit shelves, whenever that is

Mostly, it was hated for turning a fantastic story about a man's hopelessness against unimaginable odds and his descent into total despair, into a "look, I saved my family" movie.

Barring some of the set pieces (artillery taking down a tri-pod, for example), the film completely misses the actual story.

The remake is hands down one of Spielberg's most technically proficient films.

It's a great, highly underrated movie and it puts the campy original out to pasture.

I love Spielberg's treatment and it's one of my most eagerly anticipated BD's should it ever be released. The DTS track on the DVD is incredible, I can't imagine how great a DTS-HDMA track is going to be.

I've always considered this film along with the first Transformers as the best examples of "real life" visual effects in film. (For its time) Speilberg's "War of the World" was a jaw dropping experience that I'll never for get. The Tripods, the aliens, I was convinced they were in the same space as the rest of the environment.

Of course the film has its shortcomings, and that's a personal thing with me, with regards to how kids are portrayed in many Speilberg films. Spoiled Yelling brats!!!!! Take that element out of the film and it would've been more enjoyable for me personally.

I would love to see this in Full HD!!!

It would be nice if they put both the original and the remake in the same box like was done with The Day The Earth Stood Still so people could have both

I would prefer they offer the original alone also like they did for The Day The Earth Stood Still, it's the only one I truly want on BD

I won't be surprised if this actually happens. Or at the very least they'll release the original separately, but at the same time.

I was just about to get excited, then I realized it was Spielberg’s remake you were talking about instead of the 1950s version.

This has to be Spielberg’s worst film, or at least up there with Always. I nearly fell asleep watching it, and dubbed it Bore of the Worlds.

you shouldn't have had 4 glasses of wine before seeing it

'cause the movie at the very least was not boring!

WOTW is one of my favorite movies to watch with my Audio at full blast and the first half is one of my favorites. But, as soon as the Basement/Tim Robbins part comes on, the movie goes downhill IMO. I don't understand why they had to throttle down to a B-movie/claustrophobic feel???? Fine, follow one guy's journey to save his loved ones, but why not do it at a more epic scope - afterall, green freaking martians are invading the world!!! Having said that, I am looking forward to watching and hearing this movie on blu, at least for the first hour or so.

It's truly not that bad It was a fun movie. I would not buy it on BD because unlike the original I just can't see myself watching in often enough to truly make it worth my while. It did not feel like Bore Of The Worlds, funny quote by the way

i'll be the first to admit that this is me being really narrow minded, but this was the first movie i ever seen dakota fanning in, and it flat out totally soured me on her FOREVER. ive seen a few of her movies since, and i just cannot stand her since this one gave me such a terrible first impression of her.

I like this version of War of the Worlds very much. To me, Dakota Fanning was AMAZING.

The only part of the movie that I did not like was when
[Show spoiler]Tom Cruise was ingested by the alien sphincter -- which was at the part of the tripod machine in the crouch where the three legs meet. It was very weird -- especially when the sphincter squeezed Tom back out of the orifice.

What was THAT all about???
