Silly? The 1925 tornado lasted 3 hours. http://www.crh.noaa.gov/pah/1925/ss_body.php

Furthermore, if you read Paxton's interview, he specifically says that the movie would delve into the history of tornados, etc.

It wouldn't be a "90 minute tornado", and neither was the first Twister.

It can go either way, but I'll be in line to see. Used to be my favorite disaster flick. Funny thing is, I woke up today thinking "what if they make a sequel to Twister?" Then I see this post.

Im just surprised that with as sequel-happy as Hollywood is, that this hasn't been done in the 13 or 14 years since the original

I think that tornado in 1925 lasted over 3 hours and wasted almost 300 miles and killed 700ish people.

Edit: O V N beat me to it.

Better technology nowadays (?), or it may have been one of those "stand alone" type movies where the studio instantly thinks SEQUEL!!

right, but here's a quick look at the stats that the 1925 Record Tri-State tornado had:

219 mile path length
? mile average path width (some accounts of 1 mile wide—a record width)
3 ? hours of continuous devastation
1:01 p.m.—tornado touched down 3 miles NNW of Ellington, Missouri
4:30 p.m.—tornado dissipated about 3 miles SW of Petersburg, Indiana

N 69? E heading maintained for 183 of the 219 miles
62 mph average speed
73 mph record speed between Gorham & Murphysboro
F5 tornado on the Fujita Scale, with winds perhaps in excess of 300 mph
28.87" lowest pressure measured on a barograph trace at the Old Ben Coal Mine in West Frankfort, Illinois
695 deaths—a record for a single tornado
234 deaths in Murphysboro—a record for a single community from such a disaster
33 deaths at the De Soto school—a record for such a storm (only bombings and gas explosions have taken higher school tolls)
2,027 injuries
15,000 homes destroyed

John Connor wants to prevent it from ever happening

I would be first in line to see a Twister sequel. I would really hope all the cast would come back, especially Philip Seymour Hoffman.

I had complately forgotten he was in that. Then again I only seen Twister once in theater and one more time on VHS later in that year, so it's been what 14 years since I've seen it.

I thought Twister was a wild summertime film ride of sound, sound and visual effects.
Still have the CAV THX laserdisc and the two DVD versions region 2.

Saw it around 4 to 5 times it was basically the best sound playing at the time in Dolby.

If Hollywood can punish us with 4 Shreks, 16 Saws and 20 Tyler Perry movies, the least they can do is give us 2 Twister movies.

If it looked decent I'd give them my $5.oo for a matinee showing. Even if it's not that great I'm only out $5.00. Also I lived in Ok. for a while and I think every1 enjoys seeing their home areas on the big screen. Unless your from N.Y. & L.A. and it's no big deal anymore. I live in Tucson so I pop in old movies just to remember what it use to look like during times of filming. Cannonball Run 2, The Wraith, Can't buy me Love, Revenge of the Nerds, and movies as recent as Transformers 2 those are our mountains in the background during the scene where they initiate the old decepticon. I forgot his name, along with D.M. air force base being used. I say go Twister 2 go.

I am definitely interested in this movie! The first one was a really fun summer movie and I have enjoyed it as much if not more in subsequent home viewings. Furthermore, Bill Paxton has really evolved since the first one as an actor and behind the scenes with his contributions to Big Love and Frailty to name a few, so I think the second one would be great.

I like Twister, but I'm not sold on the idea of a sequel.
